Update: Double doh! It looks like Target.com is sold out of the cards and Dell Canada either jacked the price back up or it was a limited time offer. Sorry guys ...

If you're like me and find yourself in the precarious position of having your Xbox Live Gold subscription expiring this month, then you need to open up your wallet and pony up a few bucks for another year of gaming bliss. But, if you're also like me and want the best deal on your new subscription purchase, then heed our advice and click the links below. Get $5 off with an Orange Box pre-order

If you already have decided on purchasing the Orange Box this coming Tuesday you can save $5 on your purchase if you're willing to pre-order the game at Gamestop. From now through October 9th (the game's release date) Gamestop is willing to chop $5 off the game's price if you plop down a few bucks on an Orange Box pre-order. True, $5 isn't all that much of a savings, but if you're already purchasing the game then why not save a few bucks and treat yourself to a McFlurry or a few lottery tickets with your cash savings. There's no need to thank us, we're always looking out for ways to keep your wallet from becoming empty. That's just the kind of bloggers we are.

As part of Amazon.com's Deal of the Day, today and today only they're knocking off $40 and offering the 120GB HDD for "only" $139. Not too shabby, eh? But if you're interested you better check your bank accounts quickly, because this daily deal ends tonight and the $139 price tag will revert back to original $179 status and the evil in the world will corrupt your soul. Today, Amazon.com's gaming Deal of the Day is the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote and they're offering it for 40% off of retail. For only $11.99 you too can own a fancy new Xbox 360 remote to navigate those DVDs, change channels, turn the volume up (or down) and complete standard remote control functions all from the comfort of your couch. True, it is the same remote that is included in the 360 HD DVD player bundle and it doesn't have a button designated for shutting off your TV (how'd they forget that?), but it's still a nice peripheral to add to your ever growing remote control collection. $299 Premium 360s at Office Depot

After digging through our inbox today we stumbled across a tip from shenlong77 who sent us an Office Depot leaked adscan (or one that is readily available to everyone, but advertises deals that start September 9th) and it features a pretty sweet Xbox 360 console deal. According to the ad, this Sunday online at OfficeDepot.com they will be offering Premium Xbox 360s for only $299 after a $50 rebate. And for the sake of us being a little curious we hopped on over to their online store and looked up an Xbox 360 Premium to see if the deal was in effect right now and we're sad to say that not only are the Premiums not $299, but they are actually trying to sell them for $369! Ouchers. But hopefully our ad is right and this Sunday brings $299 Xbox 360s, money savings and world peace.

Stranglehold for the cheap and HDMI 360s

It's that time again when we open up the Sunday newspaper, gather up all the retail ads and painstakingly look for the best gaming deals this week has to offer. So, enough setup already ... let's get to it.

One of this week's best new release deals is at Circuit City where they're offering Stranglehold for only $47.99. That's a $12 savings which is quite the deal. We couldn't find any other software deals, but ran across Circuit City's 2-day Labor Day special (Sunday and Monday only) on a Premium 360 where they'll throw in a copy of Rockstar's Table Tennis and a wireless controller for free. Nothing amazing, but it's something. Finally, for those of you who want to be guaranteed a HDMI connection on your 360, Best Buy is advertising the "new" Xbox 360 Premium w/HDMI SKU. It's a very nice gesture that prevents online orderers from getting an old, HDMI-less 360.

That's all the noteworthy deals we could find in this week's Sunday ads, but we're sure you've come across other deals online so feel free to share with your fellow fanboys. You know, because sharing is the right thing to do.

HD DVD player, 8 movies, free ship and no tax [update 1]

Adding to our list of ever expanding Xbox 360 HD DVD player deals we've got one nice offer coming straight out of Amazon.com. Right now, you can pick up the Xbox 360 HD DVD player with the included King Kong HD DVD (1), five more HD DVDs with The Perfect Offer (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and Amazon.com will throw in two extra HD DVDs of your choice (7, 8)! That's a total of eight movies for free with a $179 HD DVD player purchase! Not only is that all fine and dandy, but you'll also receive free shipping and a tax-less order. It just might be time to buckle and give in, eight movies and a HD DVD player for $179 is nice ... really nice.

Update 1: We've heard from a few people that Amazon.com offers a buy two, get one free on HD DVD movie purchases. So, try adding a third HD DVD into your cart and see if you get it free thus making this a nine free movie offer. Anyone try this successfully?

To be truthful, the Sunday retail ads are kind of a let down this week, not offering too many great deals that we haven't seen before. So, let's just get to it. Stuntman: Ignition releases this week and if you're in the market for the game you'll have to decide between a free 16 page game guide offered by Circuit City or Best Buy's exclusive code to unlock the, quote, "game's fastest car". Intense isn't it? Other Circuit City deals include a 12+1 month Halo 3 branded Xbox Live subscription for $39.99 and both black and white wireless controllers at $39.99. If you're not thrilled by those deals, maybe Target's $79.99 Guitar Hero II bundle will do it for you. Or not ...

Get BioShock and All-Pro Football for the cheap [update 1]

This morning, while flipping through the Sunday newspaper ads, we discovered a few pretty good gaming deals we thought we'd share with you. The first deal that caught our is eye was All-Pro Football 2K8 over at Best Buy which has been discounted to a very affordable $39.99, probably due to a little game called Madden 08 being released as of late. Also available at Best Buy this week is an offer where if you purchase the Xbox 360 HD DVD player you'll get the movie 300 for free on top of King Kong and the five other free movie offer. Finally, we know hordes of people will be purchasing BioShock this week and if you get it at Circuit City you'll save $10. That's right, BioShock will be available this Tuesday at Circuit City for $49.99. As always, spend wisely, be safe, and feel free to share the deals you've stumbled upon this week.

Dell Canada: Xbox 360 Elite + Halo 3 for $459

Canadian gamers who are in the market for a new Xbox 360 Elite for the release of Halo 3 just might want to focus their wallets in the general direction of Dell. The Canadian Dell store is offering an Xbox 360 Elite bundled with the Halo 3 standard edition for only $459 CADきゃど (free ground shipping too!), which is $40 cheaper than the newly price dropped Elite AND it includes Halo 3. It's a pretty great deal if you ask us. Though, since this bundle includes Halo 3 it is considered a pre-order and will ship only when September 25th rolls around. But if you're willing to wait, this may just be the perfect time to make an Elite purchase.

Over on Amazon.com they're offering the complete HD Xbox 360 media experience, bundling together an Xbox 360 Elite, HD DVD player and seven HD DVD movies for the discounted bundle price of $599. The offer's seven free movies are calculated by adding together the five HD DVDs from the "Perfect Offer", King Kong HD DVD that's included in the box and the 300 HD DVD. In the end, you'd be saving around $50 over purchasing everything separately. And we can't help but make a Xbox 360 versus PS3 comparison; buy an Xbox 360 Elite with 120GB HDD and HDMI cable, HD DVD player, and seven HD DVD movies for $599 or a PS3 with 80GB HDD with no cables included, Motorstorm, Blu-Ray player, and five Blu-Ray movies for $599. Amazon.com discounts Xbox 360 Premiums to $329

Wowzaz! Xbox 360 price cuts are doing deeper than we ever expected, $20 deeper to be exact. Today, Amazon.com dropped the price of the Xbox 360 Premium console from its recently price dropped $349 price tag to an even lower $329! We expect the price cut to be related to yesterday's confirmation that HDMI will be making its way into Premium consoles and so Amazon.com just might be liquidating the older, HDMI'less Premiums to make room for the new models. But we can't confirm that theory, so it might be possible that these $329 Premiums will include HDMI. It's really a shake of the dice.

That said, we can't help but recommend that you take advantage of this deal ASAP, because you just can't beat a $329 price tag, free shipping and possibly no sales tax charges. Heck, while your at it, cash in on today's Deal of the Day where the featured item is a black Xbox 360 wireless controller / black play and charge pack bundle for only $49.99! Amazon.com ... we love you.

Best Buy's latest promotional trickery in trying to get Halo fanboys to pre-order Halo 3 at their stores involves a gift card and free shipping. Their latest Halo 3 pre-order promotion offers up a free $10 Best Buy gift card and free shipping (on online orders) for customers who pre-order the game AND purchase an accessory priced at $29.99 or more. So, you'd more than likely need to be in the market for an extra controller for this deal to make any sense, because going out of your way to buy an accessory simply for a $10 gift card doesn't make much sense. And honestly, we still think Circuit City's 4' tall Master Chief wall graphic is the best pre-order offering out there, but if a $10 gift card attracts you then by all means go get 'em tiger!
