Bowen: St. Joseph's new field ready for play at last

They haven't yet named the football stadium at the new St. Joseph Athletic Complex, and that might not be a bad thing. This way, the Eagles can bring back my favorite lines from Field of Dreams.

As he looks at the new grass, the freshly painted lines and the bright lights, quarterback Alec Castilleja could turn to receiver Blake Stone and ask, "Is this heaven?" Informed that it is Bryan, Castilleja could look at the fieldhouse, grandstand and press box and marvel, "I could have sworn it was heaven."

St. Joseph will play its first football game at the new stadium when the Eagles play host to Kingwood Christian at 7 p.m. Friday. It will be a special Homecoming game that marks the end of a 3 1/2-year project to provide St. Joseph football with a home of its own.
