BEIJING, Oct. 18 -- China has established new schemes
to improve quality supervision of food products. That's according to Li
Changjiang, the Director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision,
Inspection and Quarantine.
He spoke at a press conference on
the sidelines of the Party Congress.
Li Changjiang said the recent four-month campaign to
improve food safety has achieved good results. Around 80 percent of food
manufacturers across the country have been certified. He also said that the goal
is to create a nationwide system that covers the entire process from planting,
production and processing to post-sale services.
Li Changjiangsaid, "We have either sent back or
destroyed all illegal imports of fruit, meat products and raw materials. We have
also standardized strict labeling of quarantined and inspected export products
since September. Moreover, a supervision scheme is almost complete for the
wholesale markets of agricultural products."
Li Changjiang also said Chinese toy manufacturers
will continue to improve product quality.
Li Changjiang said, "Children around the world love
'Made in China' toys, especially at Christmas. And China's toy manufacturers
will do their best to make safe and reliable toys for children around the world
before the Christmas season."
Li Changjiang said the quality of China's products
will never be inferior to that of imports and that consumers around the world
can have confidence in Chinese products.
