THE TECHNIQUE

We do this because we want, not because we are part of some journalism program or need the English credit. We enjoy contributing to the wider campus community and the satisfaction that comes from seeing a finished product in print and being proud of a byline.

We strive to be consistent, but we are not necessarily bound by the same journalistic "stuffiness" that so often pervades other papers. We are "The South's Liveliest College Newspaper," and if we truly believe that and constantly strive to reflect that, then we are and true and will remain true to that moniker.

We are creative. We dare to take risks. We ask questions, exposing controversy where it exists. We do things differently, and live on the cutting edge. And by doing this, we encourage our friends to try this new and different experience that is working for The Technique.

We are online, and at the forefront of technology. When it's practical, we adopt new technologies and ways of working that can help us most.

Above all else, we strive to be accurate. That is the one journalistic principle that binds us, and it is something that we can be proud of--why not?--we do it well and have been recognized for it for over 80 years.

Have fun. Have great ideas, and turn those ideas into fun things. Don't be afraid to try new things, or do something a little differently.

We are a unique group. We are the staff of The Technique.
