Just in time for Halloween: it's Larry Kingula!

Larry KingThis has got to be one of the great celebrity moments.

I don't really know what to say about this screen shot. It's from NBC's Football Night In America the other night, and since I don't watch the show I'm not sure what the context is. Was Larry King a guest on the show, or did they just take a shot of him watching the game and then comment on how he looked? Here's a bigger version of the pic at deadspin.com (warning: not suitable for small children or pets).

Reaper: What About Blob

Reaper: What About Blob(S01E05) Okay, first things first. How cool was it that Chief Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica was a demonic courier from Hell in this episode? His deadpan delivery cracked me up, and he definitely sold me on considering using the devil to delivery things rather than UPS of FedEx. He was definitely much more thorough. I know that Kevin Smith is a huge (no pun intended) BSG fan, so I wonder if he had a hand in this.

This was definitely one of the busiest Reaper episodes ever. Finding out who the escaped soul was took a heck of a lot of shoe leather, and while Ben, Sock, and Sam were out searching, I finally figured out who they remind me of ... a sort of weird, dysfunctional, and gender-unbalanced version of the Mystery Machine gang from Scooby-Doo.

Cane: Brotherhood

Alex on the phone.
(S01E05)
Last night on Cane things continued to heat up for Alex Vega. He had some close calls with the law. How much longer can he cover his tracks with his involvement in Quinones's murder? Plus, Senator Barnes had to resign because he was found with a male hooker. (Is that the right term? I think Joe Samuels helped would say so.) Guess there's no ethanol deal. Bad news for Alex. Good news for Cane fans. We get to watch him try to clean up this fine mess.

Ten all-time scariest TV characters

nightmare at 20,000 feetEveryone's got their own idea of what's truly frightening. I'm not talking about people or things who just are scary because they're dangerous or despicable. I mean things that truly keep you awake at night, afraid to turn out the lights. Afraid to be home alone. Afraid to fly on a plane. There are a few characters on television over the years who've stuck out more than others as being truly frightening to a handful of us TV Squadders, and we've put together a list (surprise!) of characters who have haunted us for years. If we're digging up old unforgotten nightmares of your own, well, sorry about that.

The list is numbered, but it doesn't necessarily mean these are ordered. Like I said -- we all have a different definition of what truly frightens us. Make sure you list your own in the comments. Let's start with ...

All-time scariest TV characters -- #10: Gorgan

Bones: The Secret in The Soil

(S03E04) Angela -- Is it always this way when you're together?

Bones -- Yes. Booth -- No.

Angela -- It's kinda hot.

Bones and Booth breaking up? Say it ain't so! Well, it ain't so (apologies to all of my English teachers for the double use of the word 'ain't'. Make that the triple use of the word). As long as Seeley and Temperance fill out a few blue books and let Doctor Lance Sweets find out what's going on between them, they'll be able to stay together and Bones will continue its success for years to come. Well, that's a relief.

Or, it ain't.

Nip/Tuck, season five -- an early look

Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh star in FX's Nip/Tuck.
It's been almost a year since McNamara/Troy closed up shop in Miami and packed their bags for Los Angeles, in search of a better life. Following up on a season where just about every loose thread from the world of Nip/Tuck got answered might seem like a daunting task, but look at it this way: after two seasons of some of the best stuff on TV, Nip/Tuck returned for a third time to mixed reviews because of the season long focus on The Carver. For the most part, the show returned to its roots in season four, but overall it was clear that the FX drama needed its own face lift. Starting from scratch in a city where you can order a pizza and a boob-job at the same time seemed like a perfect fit. Fans of the show can rest assured that it is. I've screened the first two episodes of the new season and creator Ryan Murphy has continued to provide us with a show that indulges all our guilty pleasures.

Microsoft partners with Nickelodeon

XBox 360According to a CNN article, Microsoft is going to partner with Nickelodeon and Warner Brothers to produce a library of family games and entertainment for XBox LIVE. This will include kid-friendly games as well as video entertainment

I have to admit that I don't own a gaming console of any kind, mostly because I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to tear myself away from it. This sort of merger of video-on-demand and games-on-demand with a gaming console would no doubt make it harder.

Damages: Because I Know Patty (season finale)

Tate Donovan and Rose Byrne
(S01E13) "I'm accused of murder and my mom bakes cookies. Sounds about right." - Ellen

Four or five episodes ago, you might have caught me saying that I was getting sick of Damages. It was getting slow and I was tired of all the questions. But with each week after that, things turned around and last night's finale definitely made up for any shortcomings this phenomenal season had. If FX doesn't renew this show, I'll be more disappointed than when Showtime canned Huff. All the big questions got answered. The ones we were left with won't drive you crazy. Plus, just as Tate Donovan promised us, we got one hell of a set-up for season two.

House: Guardian Angels

Four of the remaining candidates to be part of House's team

(S04E04) Wilson -- You're quite impressed with yourself right now, aren't you?

House -- Who wouldn't be?

After a brief baseball break, House returned with a pretty decent episode. Not only did we get to see a further fleshing out of the new characters, but also witnessed additional connection between the old and new team members. Plus, we found out that trying to find a job outside of Princeton-Plainsboro when you worked for House was not the best thing to do.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 5 results

Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

(S05E11) Tom opened the results show by noting that this week of Dancing With The Stars was meant to be sexy, but ended up being full of drama. I was disappointed that the footage of Marie fainting was shown again (and again and again). Nothing terrible happened to Marie, but does that justify playing the footage several times more? I thought it was insensitive. Tom added a teaser for the Jennifer Lopez performance (for which I was totally psyched), and warned viewers that "nothing can be taken for granted."

Robert Goulet in critical condition

Robert GouletBroadwayWorld.com is reporting that stage, film, and television star Robert Goulet has been in the hospital for over three weeks and is in critical condition. The star was experiencing shortness of breath a couple of months ago and found out that he has Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is fatal.

Goulet had been in a Las Vegas hosptial when it was determined that he would not survive without a lung transplant. They don't do that in Las Vegas so he was moved to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles on October 12. He's waiting for a transplant.
