REEF Field Surveys are a great introduction to fish identification for novice fishwatchers, and a fun way for experienced surveyors to build their life list while interacting with fellow fishwatchers.
Each REEF Field Survey is led by REEF staff and hosted by highly regarded local resort/dive operators, and typically runs from Sunday through Friday. As a survey volunteer you will gather data at locations especially important to marine wildlife management and conservation officials, making a minimum of two survey dives each day and often additional dives are offered. Between survey dives you will enjoy colorful and interactive fish identification presentations by REEF personnel. Learn the most successful surveying strategies, participate in informative discussions, and get plenty of exciting fish behavior tips. You will be amazed at how enjoyable diving will be with your expanded knowledge of marine wildlife. Marine life identification is a natural underwater activity for today's active and environmentally concerned diver. Even beginning fish watchers can make a valuable contribution. By the end of the survey week you will be well on your way to becoming an expert fish watcher and will have established your own personal lifetime list of species sightings. The REEF fish survey program offers you a lifelong exciting activity! So why not join in? Take a dive vacation that counts and join REEF for a week long FIELD SURVEY at a favorite dive destination.
