Just when you were starting to get worried about the market's recent jitters. Relax. The man who declared "mission accomplished" in Iraq more than four years ago says not to worry. Everything is fine!
According to a piece in today's Wall Street Journal, Bush is optimistic. Here are some choice quotes from his remarks to a small group of reporters (apparently most had better things to do than listen to the president give his market forecast -- perhaps they were watching Man Band on VH1):
"If markets are given a chance, they will adjust in a way that is a necessary reaction to a flood of liquidity that came into the market over the last couple of years."
"I happen to believe the war has clouded a lot of peoples' sense of optimism."
"It all depends on if you're a glass-half-full or a glass-half-empty kind of guy."
With Mr. Bush's approval ratings hovering at around 35%, the glass is considerably less than half-full for him. More like 65% empty.
It's really a sign of the president's lack of credibility that no one really cares what he thinks about the economy at this point.

6. In the President's words- "Because the — all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those — changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be — or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled." --explaining his plan to save Social Security, Tampa, Fla., Feb. 4, 2005

11. My favorite blog entries are those made by befuddled right wing folks who have argued themselves so successfully into a situation where they really have no defensible position, yet they still pretend they do! Bush only know what he knows because of the idiots around him, not because he has any intellectual capability. Hence, he has trouble understanding what he has learned and then communicating effectively to others. It appears as though the large liberal machine is hitting second gear and the highway is wide open...

13. hi guys, this is prety interesting. This blogging reminds me of the school days where we all played in the yard and there was a great mix of personalities among ourselves. We would argue a point right, then somebody came up with an idea that appealed to some. Then eventually we became split up because it got so heated that no one would give an inch. It got so bad that it even started quasi-gang like rivalries because we would show and stayed loyal to a guy because he was not only popular but also had some power and clout. It was hard to make firiends again and at times it would get pretty rough. I don't know if some of you will get my analogy, the thing is, somebody has to be the grown up and do the right thing. But first the right thing has to be defined because some of us did not learn from kindergarten and went on to be grown ups but never really grew up. Talk to me, tell me I'm an idiot if you want but come up with a solution. Otherwise, keep the lid shut. thks.
