Sunday's ads bring GHIII deals and more

Today, Guitar Hero III hit store shelves, which means you should be looking for the best deals and get your purchase on. And since we're cool cats here at X3F, we figured we'd help you out by looking up the best GHIII offers, though we're leaving the purchasing totally up to you. Over at Best Buy, they are offering a free Sex Pistols faceplate for your guitar with purchase of any GHIII bundle, while Circuit City is offering a free guitar stand with any GHIII purchase (bundle or stand alone game). They are both equally good deals, so you'll have to choose which you prefer and which suits you best. Also, you may want to pick up a $2 GHIII keychain at Best Buy, because they're not only cool, but all proceeds will go to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. W00t to that.

Best Buy also has the best free offers on two other new releases this week including a free Homer ball, free Homer poster and a free keycode to unlock the Medal of Homer level when you purchase The Simpsons Game. If TimeShift is more your thing, then pick it up at Best Buy this week, because you'll be treated to a free music CD priced at $14.99 or less. Remember, all these offers are only good through this Saturday, so be sure to take advantage of them while they last. Oh, and don't forget to pickup GHIII ... it's good times.

Canada: Get GHII free with Xbox 360 purchase

Fellow Canadians who don't own an Xbox 360 (or are looking for a second) and would like to jam to some Guitar Hero II before the sequel releases next week, please give us your complete and undivided attention. This week at Canadian electronics retailer Future Shop they are offering Guitar Hero II FREE with the purchase of a new Xbox 360 console. This is the same holiday 360 bundle that includes Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, so it's like getting three games and a console for $399. It's not too shabby of a deal, so maybe you should jump in while the gettings are good.

[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

Sunday ads: Heroes HD DVD and some free stuff

We woke up this morning thinking of all the great deals the Sunday paper would bring. We already knew about a certain Heroes HD DVD deal, but we were semi-optimistic about others. Anyway, speaking of Heroes, that offer is 100% valid, starts today and will net you a free Heroes: Season One HD DVD when you purchase the Xbox 360 HD DVD player at Best Buy. Other Best Buy offers include a free comic book with the purchase of Conan, a free wraslin' demo (which is available on the XBLM too) when you pre-order Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, and a free bonus disc loaded with gamer pictures, trailers and songs when you pre-order Mass Effect. And if you're looking for other deals worth mentioning this week, then sorry, but there really isn't any. Circuit City, Target and everyone else were let downs. But cheer up, because a little birdy told us about next week's Circuit City retail ads and all we're saying is a free guitar stand with Guitar Hero III purchase and a free Homer ball with The Simpsons Game purchase. Shhh, you didn't hear that from us.

Sunday: Get Heroes HD DVD free with player purchase

Per some leaked scans of Best Buy's October 21st retail ad, this coming week you'll be able to get Heroes: Season One on HD DVD for FREE instantly with the purchase of a new Xbox 360 HD DVD player. The free Heroes HD DVD offer (which is valued at $99) will go into effect this Sunday and piggybacks the five free HD DVD offer and King Kong movie that's already included in the box. So, as things stand, you can now get the player, King Kong, Heroes and five other movies for $179. This week may be just the time to jump into the HD DVD world, especially if you're a Heroes fan.

Snag a black controller and play & charge kit for $44 [update]

Update: Grrr, we take back anything nice we said about Amazon.com or its Deal of the Day junk. They decided to switch this great deal to something more DS based and did it mid-day. Stupid Amazon.com. But we'll make it up to you fellow X3F reader, we'll find another great deal even if it paralyzes us for the rest of our waking lives. No joke.

We love Amazon.com lately and their gaming Deal of the Day program. For some reason we get all jolly and happy when we see an Xbox 360 product appear, so much so that we sometimes break out into a Riverdance mid-day. And that exact scenario just may play out in the next twenty-four hours, because today's Deal of the Day is a 360 combo pack including a spiffy black Xbox 360 wireless controller and a play and charge pack (with battery) for only $44. This combo pack usually retails for $69, so take advantage of the savings and pick up an extra controller if you're in need. We're feeling the urge ... the urge to Riverdance.

[Thanks, Phillip]

Come get your Halo 3 Legendary Edition for $109

If you're one of the sixteen people who own an Xbox 360 and didn't purchase Halo 3 then here's your chance to make up for your lack of Halo 3 launch day purchasing and pick up the Legendary Edition for the cheap. Amazon.com's Deal of the Day is none other than the cat helmet edition otherwise known as the Halo 3 Legendary Edition for $109, which is $20 off the retail price. And since the Legendary Edition is supposedly uber limited and uber wanted, we're not how long Amazon.com will have these bad boys in stock. But then again, if they were so limited and nearly sold out then why are they on sale? Hmm, potato, potatoe go get your Legendary Edition and officially take your name off the none Halo 3 owners list. You'll be glad you did.

[Thanks, Phillip]

It's Sunday ad time and there's deals galore

We haven't had a Sunday ad sale blog post for a while seeing that retailers have been less than newsworthy with their video game prices and offers as of late. But don't worry, because this week is a different story. And so, let's get to the deals.

Through October 20th at Circuity City, you can pick up a free $10 gift card with the purchase of SEGA Rally Revo and get Tony Hawk's Project 8 for FREE with the purchase of Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds. Not only that, but Target is offering BioShock for $49, Best Buy is offering a free $10 gift card when you purchase both Transformers: The Game and Transformers on DVD, and Toys R Us is having its semi-annual Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer on ALL video games too. And if that wasn't enough, we felt bad about our botched Xbox Live subscription savings post, so we did a little more digging and found out that you can get 12+1 month subscription cards at Newegg for $39, Costco for $39 or Circuit City for $39. Happy savings.

Xbox Live subscriptions for the cheap [update]

Update: Double doh! It looks like Target.com is sold out of the cards and Dell Canada either jacked the price back up or it was a limited time offer. Sorry guys ...

If you're like me and find yourself in the precarious position of having your Xbox Live Gold subscription expiring this month, then you need to open up your wallet and pony up a few bucks for another year of gaming bliss. But, if you're also like me and want the best deal on your new subscription purchase, then heed our advice and click the links below. Thanks to a few of your fellow tipster fanboys, we've got some deals that'll save you Xbox Live subscription cash.

Online, over at Target.com, they're offering a 12+1 Halo 3 themed Xbox Live Gold subscription card for $10 off the normal purchase price. This $39 13 months of Xbox Live Gold is only available online, so add it to your virtual shopping cart if you deem the offer money savings worthy. And fear not fellow Canadian fanboys, we haven't forgotten about you, because you have an equally delightful deal too. Our computer friends over at Dell Canada are offering a 12 month Xbox Live Gold subscription card for $39, which works out to be $20 cheaper than retail. Now that's Xbox Live subscription savings the fanboy way.

[Thanks, gobopop & Joshua]

Get $5 off with an Orange Box pre-order

If you already have decided on purchasing the Orange Box this coming Tuesday you can save $5 on your purchase if you're willing to pre-order the game at Gamestop. From now through October 9th (the game's release date) Gamestop is willing to chop $5 off the game's price if you plop down a few bucks on an Orange Box pre-order. True, $5 isn't all that much of a savings, but if you're already purchasing the game then why not save a few bucks and treat yourself to a McFlurry or a few lottery tickets with your cash savings. There's no need to thank us, we're always looking out for ways to keep your wallet from becoming empty. That's just the kind of bloggers we are.

[Thanks, BostonKingB]

Today only, get a 120GB HDD for $139

For those of you who didn't win the Xbox 360 120GB HDD in our fanswag giveaway a few weeks back, we've got a money savings deal for you. As part of Amazon.com's Deal of the Day, today and today only they're knocking off $40 and offering the 120GB HDD for "only" $139. Not too shabby, eh? But if you're interested you better check your bank accounts quickly, because this daily deal ends tonight and the $139 price tag will revert back to original $179 status and the evil in the world will corrupt your soul. Well, maybe that's a bit much, but trust us when we say this deal will disappear tonight

[Thanks, Ben Koca]

Purchase a Universal Media Remote for $12

Today, Amazon.com's gaming Deal of the Day is the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote and they're offering it for 40% off of retail. For only $11.99 you too can own a fancy new Xbox 360 remote to navigate those DVDs, change channels, turn the volume up (or down) and complete standard remote control functions all from the comfort of your couch. True, it is the same remote that is included in the 360 HD DVD player bundle and it doesn't have a button designated for shutting off your TV (how'd they forget that?), but it's still a nice peripheral to add to your ever growing remote control collection. Purchase away.

$299 Premium 360s at Office Depot

After digging through our inbox today we stumbled across a tip from shenlong77 who sent us an Office Depot leaked adscan (or one that is readily available to everyone, but advertises deals that start September 9th) and it features a pretty sweet Xbox 360 console deal. According to the ad, this Sunday online at OfficeDepot.com they will be offering Premium Xbox 360s for only $299 after a $50 rebate. And for the sake of us being a little curious we hopped on over to their online store and looked up an Xbox 360 Premium to see if the deal was in effect right now and we're sad to say that not only are the Premiums not $299, but they are actually trying to sell them for $369! Ouchers. But hopefully our ad is right and this Sunday brings $299 Xbox 360s, money savings and world peace.

[Thanks, shenlong77]

Stranglehold for the cheap and HDMI 360s

It's that time again when we open up the Sunday newspaper, gather up all the retail ads and painstakingly look for the best gaming deals this week has to offer. So, enough setup already ... let's get to it.

One of this week's best new release deals is at Circuit City where they're offering Stranglehold for only $47.99. That's a $12 savings which is quite the deal. We couldn't find any other software deals, but ran across Circuit City's 2-day Labor Day special (Sunday and Monday only) on a Premium 360 where they'll throw in a copy of Rockstar's Table Tennis and a wireless controller for free. Nothing amazing, but it's something. Finally, for those of you who want to be guaranteed a HDMI connection on your 360, Best Buy is advertising the "new" Xbox 360 Premium w/HDMI SKU. It's a very nice gesture that prevents online orderers from getting an old, HDMI-less 360.

That's all the noteworthy deals we could find in this week's Sunday ads, but we're sure you've come across other deals online so feel free to share with your fellow fanboys. You know, because sharing is the right thing to do.

HD DVD player, 8 movies, free ship and no tax [update 1]

Adding to our list of ever expanding Xbox 360 HD DVD player deals we've got one nice offer coming straight out of Amazon.com. Right now, you can pick up the Xbox 360 HD DVD player with the included King Kong HD DVD (1), five more HD DVDs with The Perfect Offer (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and Amazon.com will throw in two extra HD DVDs of your choice (7, 8)! That's a total of eight movies for free with a $179 HD DVD player purchase! Not only is that all fine and dandy, but you'll also receive free shipping and a tax-less order. It just might be time to buckle and give in, eight movies and a HD DVD player for $179 is nice ... really nice.

Update 1: We've heard from a few people that Amazon.com offers a buy two, get one free on HD DVD movie purchases. So, try adding a third HD DVD into your cart and see if you get it free thus making this a nine free movie offer. Anyone try this successfully?

Weekly deals: Stuntman stuff and cheaper Xbox Live

To be truthful, the Sunday retail ads are kind of a let down this week, not offering too many great deals that we haven't seen before. So, let's just get to it. Stuntman: Ignition releases this week and if you're in the market for the game you'll have to decide between a free 16 page game guide offered by Circuit City or Best Buy's exclusive code to unlock the, quote, "game's fastest car". Intense isn't it? Other Circuit City deals include a 12+1 month Halo 3 branded Xbox Live subscription for $39.99 and both black and white wireless controllers at $39.99. If you're not thrilled by those deals, maybe Target's $79.99 Guitar Hero II bundle will do it for you. Or not ...
