Lowering your water bill

I've looked at my water bill in disbelief for two months in a row now. It's been around ten dollars less than previous months. I attribute this to changing out the twenty-year old toilet that came with the house when we bought it. I never thought that it would make that big of a difference or that I would be that happy over ten dollars.Changing out an old toilet is a big way to cut down on daily water usage by as much as six gallons per flush.
Other water saving ideas include:
- Turning off the water while you brush your teeth
- Keeping a pitcher of water in the refrigerator so you're not running the faucet waiting for the water to get cold
- Buying a front loading washing machine
- Running the dishwasher only when it is full
- Install a high efficiency shower head

Possibly a typo in the thought process when writing this piece. I thought it was side loaded washing machines that save water. The top loading ones need a great deal more water to thoroughly soak all cloths. The front loaders just need enough to spin all the cloths through.
