Ferrari Cars History & Background
Ferrari Cars

Ferrari manufactures Italian sports cars. The company was originally founded in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari and named Scuderia Ferrari. The company started out designing race cars and later in 1946, the company began producing street cars. The street cars were produced under the name S.p.A.. Since its inception Ferrari has participated with great success in the Formula One races.

In 1947, Ferrari introduced the 125 S. The 125 S came with a 1.5-litre V12 engine. Farraris quickly developed a reputation for being fast and stylish, though Enzo Ferrari never felt like his cars were appreciated for their true performance abilities. The car has long been admired for its good looks and expensive nature. Ferrari’s customers were usually wealthier; a trend that continues to this day.

As of 2006, the Fiat Group owned 56 percent of the company with Mediobanca owning 29 percent, Piero Ferrari owns 10 percent, and Mubadala owns the remaining five percent.

Racing was always Enzo Ferrari’s first passion, and the Ferrari car’s yellow shield reflects Enzo Ferrari’s love of racing. Ferrari street cars have a badge that is similar to Ferrari’s racing badge. The rectangular badge features a black horse on a yellow background. The red, white, and green stripe across the top of the badge represents the Italian national colours. Two popular models include the Ferrari 612, Ferrari F430.

The Ferrari 612 is a Gran Turismo that comes in coupe form and offers a 2+2 seating arrangement. The 612 replaced the Ferrari 456. The 612 Scaglietti comes with a 5.7-litre V12 engine. The 612 was first produced in 2004, and production continues to date.

The Ferrari F430 is a high-performance sports car that replaced the Ferrari 360. The Ferrari F430 is a two-seater that is available in two forms; the Berlinetta and the Spider. The car comes with a 4.3-litre V8 engine. The F430 has been produced since 2004 and production continues to date.
