One Piece: Movie No. 8 DVD A glorified recap episode, this film is more a reminder of times past than a work of art, but given the length of time we may have to wait before an un-butchered version of those times is available, it's better than nothing. 2008-02-18

The advent of the internet brought with it some changes to his routine, for which he is grateful. Check out new shows on Sci Fi and IFC! 2008-02-16

One Piece: Movie No. 8 DVD A glorified recap episode, this film is more a reminder of times past than a work of art, but given the length of time we may have to wait before an un-butchered version of those times is available, it's better than nothing.
Missing: Spirited Away Novel 1 If you've ever wondered what it's like to get lost in a dreamlike spirit world, try visiting this one.
My Heavenly Hockey Club GN 3 Like the rest of the series so far, this installment of My Heavenly Hockey Club is good fun, but not terribly deep.
Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation GN 2 The cartoonish style isn't as ghostly and supernatural as it could be, and the story—despite its growing ambitions—is still too sloppy to compare to the best in the genre. It's getting better, but not that much better.
Innocent Venus DVD 3 The renewed focus on the central trio of characters and their drastically altered relationship goes a long way towards providing a surprisingly meaty end to a deeply flawed series.
King of Thorn GN 1-3 A decided shortage of originality does not detract from how involving this constantly tense, action-packed story of cryogenically frozen survivors waking up in a hostile environment can be.
SOS! Tokyo Metro Explorers: The Next Sub.DVD It may be so grossly overpriced that it only warrants a rental, but this short movie tells a worthy story in classic kid-adventure tradition while also throwing in plenty of bones for adults, and it looks fantastic in doing so.
Yotsuba&! GN 5 Despite revolving around a young girl, the people most likely to enjoy Yotsuba&! are adults, those who need a little reminder, one that the manga itself puts best when it ends with the simple words "enjoy everything."
School Rumble DVD 3 Four more episodes of romantic misunderstandings, really stupid behavior and embarrassing situations. From the moment the words "School Rumble" come spinning onto the screen, you know you're in for undiluted good times. And really, it'd be churlish to demand anything more.
Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo GN 1 More than just a collection of freaky-monster horror tales, it's really more about human drama, and revealing the follies of the most advanced species on the planet.
Death Note DVD 1 The rare blend of originality, intelligence, and quality visuals exhibited by these first four episodes allow them to take an interesting horror-story concept, bend it over backwards, and turn it into an intense, good-looking thriller which stands amongst the year's elite offerings.
