Each R&D; division of its internal companies conducts product developments and enhancements independently. These divisions are supported by the Corporate Technology Division, the R&D; hub of the head office, which is responsible for developing the fundamental technologies that serve as the basis for divisional R&D; efforts. The Division also spearheads its own cutting-edge R&D; projects.
The Corporate Technology Division leads development efforts in such areas as materials, strength, vibration, acoustics, structure, tribology, fluid dynamics, thermal, chemical, photon and new technologies. The Division is also where product and process innovations are pursued. As the Groupfs driver of electronic, control and production technologies, it is committed to maximizing added value, and improving quality and manufacturing productivity for the products made by each internal company.
Across the Group, Kawasaki employs a matrix management method for its R&D; efforts, supporting each product development and enhancement project—including those led by Group companies— with a task team of specialists organized by the Corporate Technology Division.
