Oral History Captures Black Veterans' Experiences

May 26, 2008 · New York University journalism professor Yvonne Latty wanted to preserve the unique experiences of black veterans. So she captured their life stories in the book, We Were There: Voices of African American Veterans from World War to the War in Iraq. It's an oral history of the unrecognized contributions of African-Americans who valiantly faced war.
