Environment Management

We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our operations, in line with our ultimate policy goal of Zero Harm. We run a variety of programs to improve our performance toward this goal, and have set specific targets in areas such as energy use, air emissions (greenhouse gas), hazardous waste and general waste.

From initial mine planning through to the final site rehabilitation, our aim is to maintain a high standard of environmental care. Our policy is to minimise the environmental impact of exploration, mining and mineral processing activities, and to continuously improve our performance by taking into account evolving scientific and technical knowledge and community expectations.

The EPA conducts regular audits to assess the effectiveness of BMA's Environmental Management Systems. These audits are in accordance with compliance to the Environmental Protection Act 1994.

We also participate in collaborative research activities to improve industry processes, practices and technologies that will reduce our impacts on the environment.
