Jonas Brothers concert footage from Disney Channel Games

    Jonasbrothersdisneychannelgamesnc_3Demilovatodisneychannelgamesnc_3

Can't wait until Saturday to see Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers sing "This Is Me" during the televised Disney Channel Games?

Then get yourself to Target and buy Jonas Brothers' latest CD "A Little Bit Longer," which was released yesterday.

The store's exclusive CD comes with a bonus DVD that has the Camp Rock song and the two other live performances that were filmed at Walt Disney World in May.

"Burnin' Up" aired on the Disney Channel about a week and half ago, but viewers haven't yet seen "S.O.S." and "This Is Me."

At the time of the concert, Camp Rock hadn't debuted, so the lyrics to "This Is Me" were unfamiliar to the crowd at the Wide World of Sports event. The fans don't realize -- until Joe, Nick and Kevin appear -- that the song is a duet with the group they've been waiting all night for.

Seeing their reaction, and the performers, up close thrilled the young viewers at my house. Too bad they edited out when Joe., a.k.a "Danger," tries to climb the onstage sound equipment and doesn't quite make it. My kids got a kick out of his theatrics.

The Disney Channel Games can be seen at 8 p.m. Saturdays through August.

Disney Channel Games begin airing July 27

Dcg2_2If you're eager to see if you made it on TV at the Disney Channel Games concert, you don't have much longer to wait.

According to a calendar packaged with Camp Rock's first single, the Disney Channel Games opening ceremony will air July 27. The closing ceremony can be seen Aug. 30. In past years, concert performances were divided and used in both the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Disney Channel Games were taped at Disney's Wide World of Sports the last week in April and included a surprise parade of some of its stars at Hollywood Studios. Pictured are Demi Lovato (from next week's Camp Rock), The Cheetah Girls, Jonas Borthers and Selena Gomez. (Photo courtesy of Walt Disney World)

    Disney Channel Games concert recap

Concert2"Mi-ley! Mi-ley! Mi-ley!" chanted the crowd on cue. Kids -- and parents -- were only too happy to oblige at the Disney Channel Games concert taping Saturday night.

For many fans, it was a dream come true: A chance to hear some of the hottest young acts, including Miley Cyrus (photo courtesy of the Disney Channel), The Cheetah Girls and Jonas Brothers, who normally sell out performances in minutes. Parents could appreciate the price -- free if you were able to secure an email confirmation in the first few days after the announcement of the second such concert in as many years in Orlando.

It was a fun night in an open-air stadium that even the initial rain could not put a damper on. The underlying excitement of the all-ages crowd helped overcome the periods of waiting while sets were changed for the television production.

And I learned how I will plan differently next year to make our experience even better. It starts with thinking like a 4-year-old instead of an adult: Pick the seats over the field tickets.

Disney Channel Games parade at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Dsc00190_2_2Guests Wednesday at Disney's Hollywood Studios were treated to a short parade featuring some of the young celebrities who are in Orlando to compete in the Disney Channel Games.

The parade (video on jump) was unannounced, but word had traveled among fans watching the taping of the games Tuesday at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.

And, so, we saw starry-eyed kids and their like-minded mothers having fun anticipating what was to come while they searched for the best vantage point to see the parade.

As we scouted for a good piece of concrete to call our own, we noticed the stairs of the ABC Theater were empty and shady. A cast member told us most were reserved, but there was a corner that was not roped off. Little did we know, we would end up sitting near the sister of Cheetah Girl Kiely Williams and other friends and family of the celebrities.

Chip 'n Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto escorted the Jonas Brothers (photo on jump), The Cheetah Girls (Sabrina Bryan pictured), Demi Lovato (from the upcoming movie 'Camp Rock') and Selena Gomez ('Wizards of Waverly Place') in the vehicles like you would have seen in the former Stars N Cars Motorcade.

Although there was some disappointment over Miley Cyrus' absence, the fans around us seemed thrilled to see the other stars in another up-close setting.

    2008 Disney Channel Games taping

DisneychannelIn case you missed it, Sentinel TV critic Hal Boedeker has the latest on the taping of the 2008 Disney Channel Games at Disney's Wide World of Sports this month. Click on his blog here for details.

Unlike last year, the filming will not include audience shots, so no tickets are being distributed. However, visitors are permitted inside Champion Stadium from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 28, April 29 and May 1 without a charge. Officials warn there will be a lot of "down time" for production purposes.

You do have to have a ticket to attend the May 3 concert featuring The Cheetah Girls and The Jonas Brothers, and no more requests are being accepted. If you haven't received a reply to your email, you have been placed on a waiting list. Those who did receive an email confirmation must pick up their actual tickets according to the directions on the email. If tickets are unclaimed, they will be distributed to those on the waiting list. Good luck!

Bobble up: Disney character giveway during Tampa Bay Rays "homestand" at Wide World this month

Attention, Disneyana types. Mini bobbleheads of three Disney characters in baseball garb -- specifically that of the Tampa Bay Rays -- will be given away to the first 2,500 people (age 14 and younger) to arrive at the Rays games vs the Toronto Blue Jays at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

On April 22, the bobble will be Donald Duck, followed by Goofy on April 23 and Mickey Mouse on the 24th. Click here to see them.

Parking a hit at Wide World

Took myself out to the ballgame Tuesday night for Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs. Texas Rangers (no relation to Theme Park Rangers) at Disney's Wide World of Sports. I hope you're sitting down because I'm starting with something positive: free parking. I think every event I've attended at Wide World has sported free parking. To me, that kicks any night off right -- and my first impression isn't "ripped off.'

And on Tuesday, there were a dozen helpful guides pointing me to my slot. Spot-on good hospitality.
