Anthony Meza

Vista

The senior capped his high school career by winning his third section masters title and his second consecutive state championship. During the masters, Meza had a total mat time of 1:59 with three pins.




Elie Magracia
Soccer/Basketball
Bonita Vista

The senior helped her teams to Mesa League titles. Her highlights included a pair of goals in the win that clinched the league soccer title. As a point guard, she helped the Barons reach the Division I final.




Miguel Castrejon
Soccer
Sweetwater

The senior scored a hat trick to help his team lock up the Mesa League title and had two goals in a playoff semifinal win over Hoover. In the section Division II title game, the Red Devils defeated Oceanside 1-0.




Victoria Lippert
Basketball
Cathedral Catholic

The Dons went 8-0 during the month, including a win over Mount Miguel in the section Division III final. Lippert, a junior guard, averaged 22.4 points, four more than her season average.





Jeff Withey
Basketball
Horizon

Headed to Arizona, Withey is finishing his high school career the same way he started it – on top. The 7-foot senior led the Panthers to a 6-0 record in February, averaging 20.8 points and double figures in rebounds.




Kelly Hansen
Basketball
Mt. Carmel

One of the section's top volleyball players is also one of the best in basketball. The 6-foot-4 senior led the Sundevils to the section Division II championship. She averaged 17.5 points for the month.


High school Athletes of the Month are awarded through a partnership between the Union-Tribune and the San Diego Hall of Champions.
