PSP vs. iPhone Grudge Match

December 20, 2008 - So, you want a pocket-sized entertainment device that can play movies, music, and games? Right now, the two top options for you are the iPhone and the PlayStation Portable -- and each device is hungrily eyeing the other's territory. While the iPhone has been out since 2007, only last summer, with the launch of the 3G iPhone and the App Store, did the device gain the ability to download applications and play dedicated games. The PSP was released in late 2004 in Japan and 2005 around the rest of the world. More »

RIAA Ceases Lawsuits

December 19, 2008 - Online music pirates can collectively breath a sigh of relief, at least for the moment, as the music recording industry is preparing to drop the vast majority of its lawsuits against rascals that have been using illegal methods to get their hands on some free tunes. Since 2003, around 35,000 people have entered into legal proceedings with the music industry in form or another over piracy, with music exes hoping that the threat and follow-through of prosecution would help discourage illegal downloads. Well, apparently the music stealing community could not care less, as in the face of huge fines and even jail time, pirated music has marched on as popular as ever. More »

Cheap Last Minute Gift Ideas

December 19, 2008 - "There is no minute like the last minute," that's our policy! And if you live by these words as well, you are probably scrambling for last minute gift ideas. You've probably already got your friends, family, and other assorted loved ones sorted out gift-wise, we can call these people your "A-list" and "B-list" recipients, but what about the "C-list?" You know, those loose friendships or acquaintances that you probably should buy gifts for, but you'd really rather not. Or, even worse, those people who you didn't plan on buying gifts for, but tell you last minute that they got something for you. Moments like these are what make you really loathe and despise the whole holiday gift giving process, but for the sake of etiquette you are forced to comply. More »

Astro A40 Audio System Review

December 18, 2008 - Astro Gaming stemmed from a product design firm, Astro Studios, which has worked on everything from sports watches for Nike, to the Xbox 360 for Microsoft. While the firm was closely tied to the gaming space, Lovelady informed us that Astro Gaming was developed in order to cut out the middleman; to bring Astro's designs directly to the consumers. The company's inaugural product was the Astro A40 Audio System, a surround sound headset designed specifically for gaming. While we are a bit late to the party for a review, we were given a sample of the A40 Audio System for evaluation. Does it live up to its reputation as the competitive gamer's choice or company's admirable intentions? Find out in our full review. More »

Space Terminal Approved by FAA

December 18, 2008 - Ready to boldly go where no man has gone before? Well too bad because you won't be the first, but you could be one of the first thousand if you sign up early enough. That's right friends, civilian space travel is just as little as two years away from being commercially ready, and the building of the world's first tourist space flight center has just been approved. Named Spacesport America, the site was just recently given the go-ahead by the Federal Aviation Administration to commence construction on the future of consumer space travel. More »

Stuffed Animals For Sociopaths

December 18, 2008 - Ever wonder what psychos and crazy people in general do with their free time? We do. If we decide to go off what we've learned from movies and TV shows, most nutsos like to use their alone time to sit in poorly lit alleyways, talk to people that aren't there (unless "crazy vision" allows you to see ghosts), and maintain eccentric hobbies like fingernail collecting and face biting. But what about the creative, softer side of the mentally inept? Do they paint pictures (of burning hospitals) or plant flower gardens (with children buried underneath)? Apparently neither, as a collection of new photos show us the darkest corners of a psychos inner thoughts, brought to life by the most savage form of representation imaginable…..knitting. More »

Xbox 360 Lawsuits Continue

December 17, 2008 - Another day, another scandilicious story involving Microsoft Xbox 360 employees. It was rumored quite awhile ago that the company was fully aware that a number of their first editions of consoles were going to get a visit from the 3 Rings of Death fairy, which might explain their quick decision to so eagerly want to replace broken systems. Now, a new document unsealed during a recent lawsuit case suggests that prior to the November 2005 launch, employees also knew that the units were capable of damaging game discs. More »

Hole In Earth's Solar Shield Found

December 17, 2008 - Ever look up at the sky and ask yourself, "Gee, I wonder how the cosmos plans on wiping us all off the face of the Earth today?" We've all heard the warnings of possible asteroid collisions (which is why we always have Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck on our speed dial) that we might not even detect until it's too late, and then of course there's always the chance that a Keanu Reeves look-alike will come from a distant solar system and opt to vanquish us with his giant robot and kung-fu fighting abilities. One form of planetary destruction though that hasn't seen much limelight lately is Earth's own magnetic solar storm shield. Well good news kids, it's time to forget about global warming and start sweating radiated bullets again, because scientists have discovered the largest hole ever found in our protective magnetic shield.
