Breaking news! The lineup has changed for this Saturday's entertainment at Universal's Mardi Gras. IN: KC and the Sunshine Band. OUT: Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons due to illness.

Also on the bill this Saturday is New Orleans band Rockin Jake (5 p.m.-8:30). The Mardi Gras parade starts at 9 p.m., followed by KC & co at 9:30. The group is known for its top hits "Boogie Shoes," "Get Down Tonight" and "That's the Way (I Like It)". 

The list of headliners for Universal's Mardi Gras concerts is now complete. Add Huey Lewis & the News on April 5 at Universal Studios. Knocks that whole Billy Idol rumor out of the water, eh? The other TBA on the list was filled earlier with Earth, Wind & Fire on April 19, the last night of Universal's Mardi Gras.

Made the pilgrimage to Universal Studios' Mardi Gras this weekend to see the Go-Go's. The highlight of the evening: Seeing the signs letting people know they could ride the floats and throw beads -- for a $30 fee! What's next, we cracked, you could serve hamburgers at Mel's Diner if you pay Universal $40? "$50 to run The Mummy!" we joked.

Well, you couldn't pay me enough, never mind me pay them. But if it sounds like a good time to anyone, the $30 "float tickets" are available for advance purchase at the Universal.com Web site.

One of the TBD's has been determined for Unviersal Studios' Mardi Gras concert series. Earth, Wind & Fire will headline on April 19, the final evening of the 12-Saturday festival. April 5 is the last spot open. Whereforth art thou, KC & the Sunshine Band?

Went out to see the "Lost Civilizations" floats at Universal Studios'  first Mardi Gras parade of the season on Saturday. By 7 p.m., viewing spots along the curb were hard to come by for the 8 p.m. parade. People (inexplicably) want those beads.

I'm posting photos of the six new floats, but beware: this is not photography at its best. Nothing highlights my amateur status more than fast-moving night parades with little or spotty lighting. Squint and enjoy.
