Coming off of a victory over archrival Commerce, and with four wins under their belts, the Jefferson Dragons had to feel good about their chances last week going into Friday night’s game at Union County.
The Panthers were off to a mediocre start, and it looked for all intents and purposes like Jefferson’s first region game of the season would result in their first win as well.
But it was not to be, as Jefferson found themselves on the wrong end of a 38-34 final.

Dec. 5 - The Lady Dragons lost on Friday to Hart County 51-27.
They're next game will be this coming Friday, when they play host to the Lady Tigers of Commerce.

Dec. 6 - The Jefferson Mat Dragons took top honors in the Panther Invitational at Jackson County Comprehensive High School this weekend.
Eleven JHS wrestlers in 14 classes reached the finals, with six taking home championships, with five finishing in second.
Jefferson amassed 321.5 points. Second place Gilmer County had 169.

The Party's Over - Dragons fall to Lovett 34-24
The 2008 football season came to an end Friday night for the Jefferson Dragons, as they fell to the Lovett Lions 34-24 in the second round of playoff action.
Despite the loss, it was a dream season for the Dragon Nation, as Jefferson went 11-1, winning their first region title since 1977.

Lady Dragons hit court in Tourney Saturday
Coming off of a successful ’07-08 season, the Jefferson Lady Dragons basketball team is looking to continue its winning ways this season.
Last year, the Lady Dragons went 8-4 in the region and 15-11 overall.
Jefferson is returning seven players with Varsity experience this year, but the team only has four seniors. This includes MiMi DuBose, who will not play this year due to injury. [ Full Story » ]

The Jefferson Dragons Cross Country team turned in another strong performance last week at the MainStreet Invitational at East Jackson. The girls came out on top, besting East Jackson, Jackson County and Banks County.
Madison County and Commerce competed, but did not have enough runners to score.
Meanwhile the boys finished fourth, behind East Jackson, Banks and Jackson County. Madison County and Commerce finished behind the Dragons.
The team has continued this week to prepare for the region meet, which is scheduled for Saturday at Riverside Military Academy.

Jefferson falls to Wesleyan at State
The trip to state for the Jefferson Lady Dragons volleyball team was a short one, as they lost out early on to Wesleyan 0-3.
“We were excited to be there and accomplished one of our team goals by doing so,” said coach Michael Paul. It’s the second time in the team’s three-year history that they’ve made it to the state tournament.

Lady Dragons end season at Sectionals
The Jefferson Lady Dragons softball season came to a close in Dalton this weekend, after losing to Lovett 2-1 on Saturday in AA Sectional tournament play at Heritage Point Park.
Jefferson started out with a come from behind victory over Adairsville late Friday afternoon, winning 3-2 in eight innings.
