There's been some rumors and whispers lately that Nintendo might be upgrading the built-in motion-sensing technology for Wiimotes - an internal MotionPlus accessory, so to speak.

They've denied it though, dismissing reports as "purely rumor and speculation."

This is just getting ridiculous. Yet another company is suing Nintendo for its Wiimote tech. The lawsuit claims that the Wiimote is violating their patent for a video game controller.

Is suing Nintendo the "in" thing now?

Activision has finally responded to all the complaints about failing Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments. Their response? "...This was an isolated manufacturing issue." Ok... so what are they going to do about it? They'll be offering a 'drum tuning kit' that lets you fix your instruments yourself. Aww, sorry, pal. Looks like there won't be any replacements going around.

Just like with what happened during Rock Band's launch last year, complaints about failing peripheral controllers are piling on top of Guitar Hero: World Tour. Activision's latest rhythm-fest was released just last weekend, and already, numerous users have reported guitars and drums not working properly as they should.

Just in case you were confused on the whole issue, a developer from Harmonix has clarified that the guitar peripheral from the Wii version of Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock will be compatible with the Wii version of Rock Band 2.

Well at least Nintendo won't be sued for it this time. According to a patent filed a few months ago, Nintendo has a controller that a) never saw the light of day or b) hasn't seen the light of day yet.  At any rate, it looks as if it belongs more on an Xbox 360 rather than a Wii. The Wiimote is surely catching the eye of many manufacturers - even Microsoft and Sony have recently been rumored to come up with new controllers that seem to be taking a page from Nintendo's waggler. Evidence of a new patent from Apple hints of a new remote control system similar to Nintendo's Wiimote controller.
