Aussie caught on the dunny by Google Earth

Nibble Squatting in the outback
Thursday, 29 January 2009, 09:25

GOOGLE has pulled an image from its mapping service showing a man sitting on his outhouse dunny in an inner-city Melbourne back yard.

dunny

The snap appeared last August when Street View was rolled out in Oz, but it was removed when two websites posted links to the location on Google Maps where the offending snap was seen. µ

RE: Thread worthless...

I'm a tad concerned that you're keen to see a picture of someone taking a shit. Of course, you can get the scat action you seem to crave by simply following the link to the original story.

This might not be a constructive comment...

...but don't they have in house toilets in Melbourne? Then again, maybe not.

Shut the door ?

Isn't it the guys own fault? He shouldn't be taking a dump in public, surely he could have shut the door?? I don't think I'de appreciate walking down that street and seeing someone take a dump in full view.

It looks like a 19th century terrace house in Port Melbourne. Older people often don't renovate older houses. In Australia (and I assume UK as well) older houses often have laneways running down the back where "waste" used to be collected before city wide piped sewers were put in place. First, it seems that the Streetview car drove down this narrow laneway. Second, if you have seen pictures of the Streetview car you will see that the camera is 7 or more feet off the ground depending on the set up. The dunny would not have been visible from the street and the camera peered over his fence while he was taking a private moment. This man had an expectation of privacy that Google completely violated. Again. So much for not being evil.
