Daily Wibble One for everyone
Friday, 13 February 2009, 23:30

TODAY IS definitely "case day", there are cases on review on all major sites, including this Cooler Master Storm Sniper case, at Hardware Canucks.

XS Reviews and Anandtech are taking good long looks at Antec's 900 v2 case. Antec has developed an odd fixation on "big boy" fans, and this is no exception.

Overclocker's Club is reviewing the Antec Sonata Elite. Good looks, quiet operation but not that great a cooler.

Tbreak has a bamboo encased laptop from Asus, the U6V. It's a nice touch, but if you ask us, hardly practical with the wear and tear.

Hot Hardware is testing a trio of cards from Asus (4850 & 4870 Matrix) and Sapphire (4870 Toxic). They're all overclocked and in the mid-high end of gaming.

If you're looking for a budget DTR laptop (for whatever reason), you should go to Laptop Mag and see that Tosh Satellite P305D-S8900 that's on display there.

Zotac's flagship GTX 295 is being reviewed at TechPowerUp. Some serious disassembly took place, so if you're curious about the entrails, give it a go.

If you're wondering how to blow $5000 on a PC you can check out Tom's Hardware Store. Thomas has blown his wad on this one...

Phoronix is doing some workstation testing with a Tyan n6650EX motherboard. This is a quad-socket AMD server/workstation board, based on nForce professional 3600+3050.

PC Perps has been running a few more tests on Intel's X25-M SSD, in a mobile environment. The tests were used to detect the impact of certain system settings on the performance.

Asus' M4A79 motherboard for Phenom II (AM3)  processors is on the bench at Legit Reviews. Now you can pair DDR3 with an AMD processor, and  Nathan is showing off the difference it makes.

You might think Trackballs are a thing of the past, and you'd be right, if it weren't for this sleek-looking customer at IT Reviews in  the UK. It's the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball.

iXBT Labs is also looking at another AMD platform mobo, this one a MSI DKA790GX. Integrated graphics et al, it should make a nice little bed to lay your Phenom II in.

Club OC has a review of the CSX 2x2GB DDR2-1066 memory (built on an 8-layer PCB). It runs 5-5-5-16 latencies at just 1.9v which is pretty low, but testing reveals some caveats.

Joel at Extremetech rounded-up a few X58 motherboards and put them through their paces. Asus, ECS, Gigabyte and eVGA are all there.

Chile Hardware is testing Gigabyte's GA-EX58-UD4P motherboard (Googlenglish), with new and improved ultradurable technology. µ
