BIGGEST SINCE 1993

"Its the biggest one since it started in 1993 and we're looking forward to an exciting evening," one of the orgnaisers Rutera Taripo says of the forthcoming National Composers Competition on the 28th of this month.

Taripo said the evening will feature already, established composers and five new writers including Hinano, the daughter of the late and top Cook Islands singer Apiti Nicholas.

Among the better known composers is master carver, artist, poet and writer Mike Tavioni. "This is truly exciting stuff," Taripo said

He said recording artist and technician John Lindsay of Pacific Sounds Ltd has done a great job in putting together the guide and music for the songs.

Taripo said on-stage rehearsals are expected to start this week before the big night in ten days time.

The theme for this years competiton is "A Woman of Courage! A Person of Wisdom," and highlights both male and female leaders in Cook Islands history and the present. The event is run under the Ministry of Culture Development.
