AUSSIE rock legends AC/DC can look forward to the biggest homecoming in their history following record ticket sales for their Australian tour today.
Tickets for the band's Black Ice tour went on sale in Australia this morning.Within 15 minutes shows at Sydney ANZ Stadium and Melbourne Etihad Stadium sold out. Second shows at both venues also sold out hours later and third concerts look likely to do the same.
There has been similar demand in other capital cities.
Co-promoter Garry Van Egmond said he expected between 400,000-450,000 tickets to have been sold for the tour by the end of the day.
"I've been doing this for many years and I haven't enjoyed success like this in one day before,'' he said.
Ticket prices for the tour begin range from $99.00 to $150.00.
"I went to England to see them three weeks ago and they asked me to bring all the ticket prices of the artists who had been through Australia in the past 18 months,'' said Egmond.
"It's important to them to keep the prices down and we did that.''
Van Egmond said no more shows could be added to the tour itinerary after today due to the tightness of the schedule. Ther tour begins in February next year.
