Prey That You Make It
New Australian film Prey to premiere in May.
Rogue Traders singer, former Neighbours star and So You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte has made the jump to cinema in the new film Prey. The Australian production will have its premiere in exclusive invitation only events in Melbourne and Sydney this coming May.
The film tells the story of six friends who venture into the outback on a 4WD tour and end up in a sacred Aboriginal site. Unwittingly they revive a 5000 year old curse which turns their holiday into a violent nightmare.
Prey will have a limited release in Australia before releasing on DVD, followed by a selected cinema release in the U.S.
Alongside Natalie Bassingthwaite, the film stars Jesse Johnson (Nash Bridges), Christian Clark, Natalie Walker, Ben Kermode and Kristen Sargent. It was filmed on location in Victoria and central Australia.
"I really enjoyed the opportunity and challenges of making my first film; I can't wait to see it on the big screen. Prey is targeted towards teenagers but it easily appeals to anyone who enjoys thrillers. This was my first film, so as an actor you tend to pocket your own instincts and rely more on the advice and vision of the filmmaker. Making Prey was a great experience and I hope it's well-received," says Bassingthwaighte.

Prey is based on real life unsolved events, following in the footsteps of other outback thriller/ horrors such as Wolf Creek and Dying Breed. Producers Bobby Galinski and Elizabeth Howatt-Jackman are excited about the film's prospects both here and overseas.
"Elizabeth and I are rapt Prey has found a good home in Australia and the US. We expect Prey will have a successful life through all mediums. It's been a four-year journey from script to screen. Audiences here will not have seen anything that looks or sounds like Prey and we're hoping they take to it...or else...!" says Galinsky.
