That noise you hear? It’s the sound of me excitedly removing How I Met Your Mother from my preliminary (and not-yet-published) 2010 Bubble Show Scorecard. Sources confirm that CBS has officially picked the show up for a sixth season!

YESSSSSSSSSSS
If this show goes on much longer, Ted can marry the actress who plays his daughter in the “year 2030″ bits. It would actually make a nice twist.
…creepy…
Yeah, creepy. But, on a serious note, are those actors still playing those parts? They haven’t talked for a few seasons now and I sort of assumed they were using pre-taped stuff because it doesn’t seem like they’ve aged in a while, either.
agreed Greg, I think they are reshowing the taped footage from season 1 all of the time. (and agreed..CREEPY! funny though)
I’m quite sure they haven’t used any new footage for a while: I think since season 2. The shots of them this season were all recycled. Supposedly they have some pretaped footage ready for when they reveal the mother.
Love this show
Actually, no new footage of the kids has been shot since a series of 4 hour sessions in season 1. The son talks about it on his website. They have also already shot the kids’ reaction to the final bits about the mother…so, they already know (some of) what happens!
One of the best shows on TV! LOVE IT!!
*happy dance*
So glad that HIMYM will be back. Here’s to a 150th episode and another musical number by NPH!
I don’t know what my Mondays would be like without Marshall, Lily, Robin, Barney, and Ted!
Call your mom, dad, sis, bro, friend, neighbor. Anyone. Invest in them rather than a tv show to give your Mondays meaning.
Lighten up Whoa and stop making strangers feel badly about themselves.
“Feel badly” means you’re bad at touching things. I was making him feel bad.
How is this even news; this was a given.
Because every year it’s had to wait until May. It’s about time they got the respect they deserve. Best show on the Monday comedy block!
This is a Legen….wait for it….dary decision!
LAME!
As much as i love HIMYM and Barney, that sir was lame and played out.
Oh be nice…it was funny!
Love it!!!!
THIS IS A CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION! EVERYONE SUIT UP!
WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!! HIMYM is one of my favorite shows currently on TV, so this is GREAT news!
Yes!!!!!!
WHOOHOOO!!
This show jumped the shark long ago. Hasn’t been good since since season 3. Shame it keeps going.
You jumped the shark long ago.
BT, this really made me LOL!
ha ha ha!
BT’s “comeback” demonstrates the comedy IQ of this show’s fans. It’s worse than According to Jim. Truly embarrassingly bad.
Then why are you reading about it?
That “comeback” demonstrates the exact same credibility that the original comment had…
I’ve been thinking the same thing. I stopped watching in the middle of my first disc for ssn 4.
I agree. This shows really isn’t that good anymore.
NO way will this ever reach the status of ‘Friends’. HIMYM just doesn’t have the heart.
Yes! Was thinking the same thing about Friends. That show always stayed funny, even when Rachel got with Joey briefly (ugh)
Really? I got so bored with Friends and HIMYM is must see TV for me.
I’ve felt that way about HIMYM halfway through season 3. When it started I felt like the series had a purpose: How Ted met his children’s mother. It’s 5 years and it still hasn’t happened. Some shows aren’t truly great until characters get together – Friends had many memorable moments once Chandler and Monica got together. What are they so scared of?
Hanging out in a bar vs. hanging out in a coffee lounge… HIMYM gets the win in that respect.
Haha in “Swarley” they go to a coffee shop and make a comment about how boring it is to just hang out there
I tried watching it last night for the first time and realized what a bad show it is.I couldn’t even finish it.
They need to stop making Lily and Marshall so annoying.
the phrase “jump the shark” has jumped the shark! Seriously dude
Tell me about it. I actually heard some one say that Happy Days jumped the shark when the Fonz became a teacher.
Billy – I hope you were being sarcastic there… As we all know the true meaning behind “Jump the Shark” was when Fonzie meet Mork from Ork
Agreed. These days, we use the phrase ‘nuked the fridge’
Still loving HIMYM though!
Guys,Happy Days Jumped the Shark when Fonzie literaly Jumped the shark on his motercycle!!It was a new low point in the show!!Even lower then sending Richie’s older brother upstairs and forgetting all about him!!
AAAAAyyyyyy! Actually, Fonzie jumped the shark waterskiing. Then on Arrested Development Henry Winkler’s lawyer character literally jumped a dead shark on a pier. I damn near wet myself laughing while my family had absolutely no idea what was so funny. Best inside joke. Ever.
Thank you Rock Golf, for finally setting these fools straight!!!
I agree. A good example is that episode where Barney had a fake family that he’d been keeping going all this time. And to think this show started out being grounded in realism.
Is next season its last?? I kinda hope so because I think its getting a little to Silly!!! Its not as funny as it used to be!!!
Actually I think they are planning on doing 7 seasons
i am a huge fan, but i do agree that it needs to stop in the next season or two.. i feel like they’re just dragging stuff out now. there used to be tension with the main group of characters when we still thought maybe just maybe maybe robin was the mother but now that we know she’s definitely not it feels like everything is just filling time. i want to learn more about the characters at least..
you are clearly not an avid viewer then, b/c it was very clear from the pilot that Robin was NOT the mother
SWEET!! I bet season six will be legen-wait for it-dary! (sorry, couldn’t resist)
yes you could have. someone beat you to it already too…
Okay, awesome!
See now this is a much more original, and less used, quote from Barney. Thank you, “legendary” is getting WWAAAYY too over played on these boards
MADE MY DAY THANKS!
