Graham Annable's 'Foggy Memories of LOST' in Comics

Even though viewers have had a few episodes to get back into "Lost," the show's massive cast, multiple timelines and ongoing mysteriousness over the years has resulted in no shortage of curiosity-bordering-on-confusion. That's why comic creator Grahame Annable's insights into the series prove it's possible for fan memories to turn out as foggy as a certain, well-known island monster.

Annable's "Foggy Memories of Lost" image series on Flickr may not recap every season's key scenes with the accuracy newbies might need to join the season six fray, but they're certainly hilarious touchstones for up-to-date fans.

The art style mirrors that of Annable's upcoming "The Book of Grickle" from Dark Horse, along with his recent MySpace Dark Horse Presents tale "Love Note" that we debuted here at CA awhile back.

Check out his Lost images after the jump - but don't blame us if you can't stop screaming "WAaaa-ha-ha-ha-halllllt!" the rest of the day.

ComicsAlliance Takes On Toy Fair, Part 1: Marvel and DC!

Toy Fair 2010 recently hit New York City, and as the toy industry debuts its new lines, there are plenty of comics related items in the mix. So many, in fact, that toy fans are in danger of being completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of good stuff!

So today, ComicsAlliance's Chris Sims, Laura Hudson, Nick Nadel and Caleb Goellner offer their reactions to some of the hottest items we've seen from the convention floor with photos by Taylor Derwin, starting with the new hotness from the Big Two comic book companies, Marvel and DC!

      BLACKEST NIGHT SERIES 3

LH: Check out the huge package on Black Lantern Batman.

CS: I don't think it would be as prominent if he wasn't posed to be "waxing that ass." I think that's why Mongul and Zombie Hawkman look so freaked out.

      LH: Wouldn't you be?

CS: I don't know, I think I'd expect it. It looks like they're at a party and Zombie Batman had one too many and started dancing inappropriately to get laughs. Hell, if they put that description on the boxed set, I'd buy it.

LH: At that point you basically have to either chuckle awkwardly or start taking pictures for Facebook. Look at Black Lantern Hawkman. He can't wait to tag him in these pics tomorrow.

'I, Zombie' 8-Page Prequel Online from Vertigo

Despite my affection for holiday anthologies, 2009 did not work out well for those particular reading habits. A few missed Wednesdays at the comic shop resulted in me missing nearly every holiday special, including "The House of Mystery Halloween Annual" from Vertigo and its 8-Page prequel to May's ongoing "I, Zombie." Fortunately, the publisher's made that particular tale available to read over at the Graphic Content Blog.

Written by Chris Roberson with art by Mike Allred, the short introduces readers to key members of the book's cast through tricking and treating the contemporary monster way.

Readers can get acquainted with protagonist (and nice zombie) Gwen, along with her ghostly and, well, werewolfy friends as they encounter a decidedly less friendly man from the supernatural sphere.

It's possible this story could also see recollection as part of a trade paper back down the road, but I'm not going to risk it. Today, I make up for lost time - even if its unfashionably late on my end.

Comics And Rap Collide in 'Wu-Massacre' Album Art

The Wu-Tang Clan has been one of pop culture's most comics-friendly groups since its inception. Method Man adopted Johnny Blaze and Ghost Rider as aliases early in his career, and still reads comics. Ghostface Killah christened himself Tony Stark (sometimes spelled Tony Starks or Toney Starks). His debut album was 1996's "Ironman." Ghost even made it onto the soundtrack for Marvel's hit movie "Iron Man," and into the film itself in a brief deleted scene.

The Wu have added another notch into their comics-cred belt with the release of the official album art for "Wu-Massacre," Method Man, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon's upcoming full-length collaboration. Comics artist Chris Bachalo took a break from drawing some of the most engaging comics stories in recent memory to provide some dope art for the trio, with art direction by Alex Haldi.

The cover is done in the style of old comics, with an info box in the top left corner, a stylized mini-logo (the Wu-Tang W turned on its side to look like a 3), and even a little "DIRECT EDITION" box and barcode. Method Man, true to his Johnny Blaze moniker, is holding a fireball, Ghostface is draped in kung-fu robes and masked once again, and Raekwon looks like a mafioso that's ready for war.

Size Doesn't Matter With Marcio Takara's Tiny Heroes

They say that big things come in little packages, and that's certainly the case when it comes to the latest artistic endeavor from Brazilian comic book artist Marcio Takara.

Currently based in Canada, Takara has recently taken to working on "a series of tony superhero drawings," according to a post over at Oculoid. While Takara's regular sized artwork gets a big thumbs up as well, there's something to be said for his smaller bits of concept art.

The "Tiny Heroes" gallery consists of characters from various publishers, the majority belonging to the iconic heroes of Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Of course, there are some other unexpected but certainly welcome faces in there like Allen the Alien from Robert Kirkman's "Invincible," Bridget Flynn (formerly Scrap, now known as Supervision) of Jay Faerber's "Dynamo 5" and a slew of video game characters like Mega Man, Link and Kratos.

Head on over to Takara's homepage to view the full line-up of tiny heroes for yourself.

Noah Van Sciver Covers Brother Ethan's 'Flash Rebirth'

While many siblings experience either long or short-term rivalry, it's pretty cool to see Noah Van Sciver running in tandem with his brother Ethan as he covers "The Flash: Rebirth" #3 over at Coveredblog.

The Brothers Van Sciver definitely practice different styles. Older brother Ethan's left his mark on the likes of super heroes like Green Lantern while younger brother Noah has taken a more indie comics route on his "Blammo" series and other fare. That said, seeing Noah put his twist on his brother's cover is the kind of thing that justifies cliches like "variety is the spice of life."

Marvel's latest "Strange Tales" series seems like a suitable mainstream outlet for Noah to take a bigger stab at superhero fare, but imagine if DC created a similar new anthology with its characters? Furthermore, imagine if Ethan submitted to an indie anthology? See what you do to me Coveredblog?!

All manic fan flights of fancy aside, it really is cool to see that creators as different as the Van Scivers can carve their own sequential art destinies while still coming together for something fun.

                If only my siblings blogged...

Will The Legion Of Superheroes Get a Teen Lantern in May?

With "Blackest Night" wrapping before long and a brighter day coming later this spring, things are looking up for the Green Lantern Corps. DC's solicitations (and The Source's mention) for May might even indicate that the Corps brightest days could even extend into the 31st century.

Yildiray Cinar's cover to "The Legion of Super-Heroes" #1 reveals that at least one member of the relaunched Legion could be sporting dueling rings. DC solicitation info indicates Paul Levitz's story will tie into "Green Lantern Corps," which gives one the impression that this is not just a fake-out by Chameleon Boy. Probably.

If flight rings are still rare in the new continuity, I hope this one is just a decoration - otherwise the possible "Teen Lantern" might want to pop on an orange finger ornament. Then again, if this ring-slinger is talented enough to wear green directly next to something yellow then he might be just what the new Legion will need to keep the future flowing.
