Inside Movies The Place Where Movies and Stars Align

Sci-Fi Blockblusters and Their Top-Secret Working Titles

In order to keep high-profile projects under wraps, filmmakers often use code words during the movie's pre-production and filming. 'Return of the Jedi' was pretty famously known as 'Blue Harvest' while filming, in case any curious fans tried to spy on the production.

It's a practice still in use to this day -- thankfully, no one thought to look in on that movie being filmed down the street called 'Rory's First Kiss' or else they could have spoiled 'The Dark Knight' for the rest of us.

But what if directors had a last-minute change of heart and liked the fake titles more than the real ones? What would it look like on the big screen to see 'Party in Fresno' instead of 'War of the Worlds'? The Sci Fi Wire has a list of 37 blockbuster sci-fi films and the code words they used during production, and they've offered up a few mock title screens to give us a glimpse into an alternate film history.

Watch 'The Golden Age of Video' Mash-Up

For those who enjoy cheesy techno music and movie and television montages but are too busy to open up two separate windows, check out Ricardo Autobahn's 'The Golden Age of Video' below. It appropriates and mixes dialogue from everything from 'The Big Lebowski' to 'The Shining' to 'Sesame Street' over a beat last heard at a Brussels discotheque to create an entirely new song.

Using classic lines from 'Ghostbusters' and 'Freaks' for the quasi-hook, the video proves, yet again, that everything ever created will, at some point, be re-contextualized for future use by clever Internet geeks.

Famous Movie Quotes in Easy-to-Learn Graph Form

We've always benefited from good visual aides when studying. And the High Definite has provided us with some excellent cinema study guides, thanks to their new collection, 8 Famous Movie Quotes in Graphic Form.

Perhaps inspired by the Village Voice's classic "graphical dissertation" of the famously simple rap song 'This Is Why I'm Hot,' the film quote graphs break down classic lines some of our younger readers may have heard before without actually seeing the movies they were born from.

To grow up hearing "I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am" without actually seeing 'On the Waterfront' may cause viewers to misunderstand the tragedy of Terry Malloy's life. With the help of a simple chart, you can finally get the proper context for the oft-repeated piece of dialogue.

Top Directors Approached for 'Breaking Dawn'

Gus Van SantRecent Oscar presenters Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner may return to the Kodak Theater sooner than expected.

According to an exclusive report from EW.com, Summit Entertainment has approached "at least three" A-list directors to helm the final chapter of the 'Twilight' saga, 'Breaking Dawn,' which is expected to be split into two films. Among the names being considered is two-time nominee Gus Van Sant, the man behind such Oscar-winning films as 'Good Will Hunting' and 2008's 'Milk.' Van Sant's reps have since confirmed the report, although no word yet on whether he'll actually take the reigns.

Other directors reportedly up for the job include Sofia Coppola and Bill Condon, who won screenplay Oscars for 'Lost in Translation' and 'Gods and Monsters,' respectively.

Movie Casting: Tobey Maguire Ends Search for Bobby Fischer

Tobey MaguireActor Tobey Maguire has reportedly landed the part of Bobby Fischer in an upcoming drama from director David Fincher ('Zodiac'), which will chronicle the life of the legendary chess master. Additionally, Maguire will serve as a co-producer on the film, with Jenno Topping and Gail Katz. Production on the untitled biopic is slated to begin in the fall.[Deadline Hollywood]

Today in 'Captain America' Rumors: Krasinski Out, Tatum and Knightley In?

The casting news has moved at a breakneck pace in recent weeks regarding 'Captain America: First Avenger,' Marvel's latest big screen comic book adaptation. First, we heard that John Krasinski was "very likely" to play the role. Then, just as Hugo Weaving began talks to play the villain, Red Skull, we heard that poor Jim Halpert was out.

Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Channing Tatum ('G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra') has been added to the list of possible actors who may play Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. Others being considered for the role are Ryan Phillippe, Garrett Hedlund ('Tron Legacy'), Wilson Blethel, Mike Vogel and Chris Evans.

When asked about the rumors last April, Channing told Inside Movies, "I would play Captain America. But I think there's someone else up for it, and I think that actor is a jillion times bigger and probably better for it. I've heard that Will Smith was toying around with it. But I would love to play Captain America, I dig his story."

Paramount Prepares for 'Existence 2.0'

And you thought Xfinity was going to be an upgrade.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is looking to take life itself to the next level with 'Existence 2.0.' Based on the comic of the same name by writer Nick Spencer and artist Ronald Salas, 'Existence 2.0' "centers on an amoral, self-absorbed physicist who finds his consciousness transferred into the body of the hitman who just killed him," a situation that gets worse when his daughter is the next target.

The project, which is being adapted by 'Smallville' and 'Shanghai Noon' honchos Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, comes courtesy of Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes imprint, which is responsible for such films as the upcoming horror reboot 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.' Also pitching in on the production end of things are David Alpert and Rick Jacobs, whose Circle of Confusion shingle is involved with adapting a number of comic book properties including 'Fire' from popular creator Brian Michael Bendis and 'The Walking Dead' for AMC.
