The Inevitable List - My Top 10* Favorite Games

I don't have anything to say about these games (that hasn't been said a thousand times already.) I just want to share my favorites with everyone (who doesn't?) With that said, here's my list:

10. Shadow of the Colossus

Epic.

9. Street Fighter II

Best. Fighting Game. Ever.

8. Portal

GlaDOS' hilarious comments......

7. Shadows of the Empire

Jetpack fight with Boba Fett.

6. Metroid Prime Trilogy

* All three games were released in one package so they can all be counted as one. I honestly can't decide which one I like the most. I keep going back and forth between 1 & 3......

5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I played this for the first time* in 2009. Timeless Classic.

4. Super Mario World

This is the first video game I ever owned and I've never stopped playing it. I've played it
more than any other game.

3. Super Metroid

Mother Brain.

2. Half-Life 2

I have no words.

1. Metal Gear Solid (1, 2, 3 & 4)

* It's my list and I'll pick a series as my #1 if I want to. HAHA! I like Metal Gear Solid 4 the most.

Comments
  • Nice list. I remember playing the Hoth level over and over on Shadows of the Empire. So much fun.

  • Thanks. Heck yeah! I'll never forget the jetpack fight with Boba Fett...

  • Theres alot more than ten games here haha, but other than that you got yourself a solid list.

  • You didn't even have one mainstream modern title, I guess you could count MGS. The majority of these games I have never played, I probably should. Metroid had too many puzzles for me.

  • Thanks, Psychedub!

  • "You didn't even have one mainstream modern title,"

I'm assuming that's a compliment... if so, thanks. As far as Metroid goes, I like puzzles. :)

  • No problem! I just made my top ten last night, check out my blogs if your intrested. lots of old school classics in there.

  • MGSs FTW!

It's nice to see another person who thinks MGS4 is the best. Too many people say Snake Eater is the best.

  • Gotta play MGS4! I own it, but I can't get myself to play it. I think it needs to be played on a hdtv otherwise I'm cheapening the experience, am I being stupid?

  • BatmanPrime, when I first finished MGS4, I went back and forth between 3 & 4, trying to decide which one was better. In the end, I had to go with 4. I'll narrow it down to these reasons (in no particular order): The flashbacks, the return to Shadow Moses Island, the cutscene at the graveyard and just how well the game "concluded" the series. I could give more reasons (of course) but most of them would be spoilers.

  • @ born4this

I did the same thing, going between 3 and 4, but you really nailed it as to why MGS4 is ultimately my favorite as well. The return to Shadow Moses, I think, really sealed it. Great list.

  • Romars202129, just play it. Trust me, the HD graphics is just the cherry on top. Plus, you could always go back and play it again in HD. I've played the game twice already. The 2nd time, I went through to get no detections and no kills so I could get the infinite ammo gun and the inviso camo. I liked how straight forward it was to get those items in this game. No Kills = Infinite Ammo Gun; No Detections = Invisible Camoflauge. In the old games, it was a bit more tedious. In Metal Gear Solid 2, you have to collect all the dog tags to get the inviso camo. I collected all of them on the Tanker Mission but not the Plant Mission.

  • Thanks, La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo-06! I agree with your comment about Shadow Moses Island. The series came full circle with that part and it was really awesome.

  • Thank you for mixing old and recent instead of all old games I can't relate to or all new games we've seen on these lists a thousand times.

    Nice list.

  • Yeah I like your list also, you have some great games on that list.  I can't wait for Metroid in the wii, also have to agree MGS4 has to be the best of the series.  Like Raiden in it, he was actually really cool looking, at can't wait for his own game.

  • I've never played ANY of these games, lol.

  • Moustachio - Thank you!

Darth_Spartan - Thank you! I'm excited for the new Metroid, too. I like Raiden in MGS4, too. I didn't HATE him in MGS2 but I thought he was much better in MGS4. I'm excited for RISING and I expect that it will be a decent game, if not a great game.

Wormpuke - I'm surprised that you haven't played any of these but I won't slam you for it. There are a lot of great games that I've never played. Many of them I would still like to check out someday but most of them I'll probably never get around to playing. There are SO MANY video games!

  • Oh man.AWSOME list.i played a link to the past SO much its not even funny.and mario 4 is an awsome classic.ive recently been replaying all the old marios.

I got so close to beating shadow of colossus.

My brother in-law introduced me to street fighter.(multiplayer)

    Yeah good times.

  • This is the first "Top Ten" list I've seen on this site that has Half-Life 2 in it. Good form! Too bad it wasn't number one. Though I enjoyed pretty much all the games on there (only one I haven't played was Shadow of the Colossus), I would say the only choice I don't agree with is Metal Gear Solid. But that's probably just because I'm sick of games with Asian vibes. Over-all, great list though.

  • Majorox & Hyde, thank you very much! Seriously, I've really appreciated people telling me that they like my list. I don't need people to validate my list but it's nice when they do.
