Apply Now to Host an Exhibit or Perform
Expo Dates: October 23 & 24, 2010
The culmination of the USA Science & Engineering Festival will be a two-day Expo on the National Mall that will give over 500 science organizations from all over the United States the opportunity to present themselves with a hands-on, fun science activity to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The list of exhibitors includes universities, colleges, high school science clubs, student organizations, research institutes, informal science outreach organizations, community organizations, professional science & engineering societies, life science and high tech companies, and many other types of science organizations. The Expo will also feature over 40 performances on three different stages.
As an exhibitor, you will create an inspiring, educational, fun and hands-on activity to be presented in your booth during the Expo. While people of all ages will pass by your booth, the activity should be geared towards a 9th grade science understanding or below. We strongly recommend that you have a scientist or engineer at the booth at all times – kids love to “meet the scientist”! To see what other organizations are doing for their exhibit, click here.
All exhibitors are expected to participate for the two full days. During that time, your booth needs to be staffed by warm, smiling faces at all times. The Expo will be open to the public on October 23 and 24, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Set up will take place as early as Friday, October 22, and tear down on the evening of October 24 or morning of October 25 (depending on the complexity of your set-up).
Exhibitor fees apply unless you signed up during our early-bird period or are a Festival sponsor. For organizations who signed up prior to January 1, 2010, fees are $250 for non-profit organizations and $500 for companies. For organizations signing up after January 1, 2010, the fee is $500 for non-profit organizations and $750 for companies. These rates are heavily discounted and subsidized by the USA Science & Engineering Festival sponsors and help us offset the tremendous cost of putting on an event on the National Mall. This fee includes one 10x10 Festival tent, one table, two chairs, and one outlet, if needed.
We are also looking for Science Performers who would like to perform on one of the three stages that will be set up as part of the Expo.
Interested? Then please fill out the form below and a Festival team member will follow up with you shortly.*
***Please note: due to the overwhelming number of applications we have received over the last couple of weeks, the Expo is nearly sold out. If you would like to exhibit, we would still like to hear from you, however, at this point, we cannot guarantee that we can accommodate your request due to space limitations on the National Mall. We are still accepting applications for performers and will be keeping a waitlist for exhibitors in case of cancellations. ***
*(All submissions will be reviewed by Festival staff to ensure that your activity aligns with the mission of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. Participation in the Expo is at the sole discretion of the USA Science & Engineering Festival staff.)
