Zero + Maria Cornejo

NEW YORK, June 17, 2008
By Laird Borrelli-Persson
Maria Cornejo was fascinated by dusk for Resort, and by the idea of fading into the sunset. But there was nothing about these clothes to suggest a designer on the wane; Cornejo, who is currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of her label, Zero Maria Cornejo, was at her most confident here. She used ombres—ivory turning to moss green—to express the dusk theme, and she covered dark dresses and a glamorous coat in shell-like sequins that sparkled like stars in the night sky. Finally, in celebration of her anniversary, the designer reissued ten black dresses from her archives, further proof of her house's enduring and still growing appeal.
