Some of the last surviving ancestors of our domesticated walnut, apple, plum, cherry, almond and pistachio trees live in Kyrgyzstan’s forests. Yet 90% have been lost over the past 50 years. FFI is working with both the Forestry Department and local communities to improve forest management to protect this wonderful unique ecosystem.
