Time to say goodbye to Nanook the elephant

08/07/2010

Fauna & Flora International's (FFI) elephant in London’s Elephant Parade sold at auction.

Nanook ready for auction!
FFI is pleased to announce that Nanook, our elephant in the London Elephant Parade, has been sold for a whopping £9,500.

Nanook was sold in a live auction, held by Sotheby's, took place on 3 July. In total, the Elephant Parade raised over £1.8 million for Asian elephant conservation.

The funds form Nanook’s sale will help FFI to keep up our hard work on saving endangered species and habitats around the world, including the Asian elephant.

We would like to thank everyone that bid on Nanook as well as those who spread the word about the Elephant Parade. It was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Asian elephant conservation.

Nanook was painted by Martin Aveling, who decided to place a polar bear on it to cleverly link concern for the conservation of Asian elephants to global concerns regarding climate change.

You can now buy a t-shirt with Nanook on it!
