FFI is empowering local communities in three key elephant conservation sites to protect their forests and their farms by employing patrols of captive elephants and their mahouts. These teams monitor forest activity, which help the government authorities to take action against illegal forest use and work to reduce human-elephant conflict by preventing wild elephants from entering villages and farmland.
