Where the money goes

What we do

Over 85% of FFI's income goes directly to conservation activities, supporting over 125 projects around the world.

For every donation of £10 made to FFI on average we turn this into around £20 of on the ground conservation work.

15% of our income goes towards covering the core costs that are necessary to make those vital projects happen, such as staff salaries, awareness raising, postage, telephone, electricity and rent. These may not sound glamorous but the field work couldn’t be done without them.

Core costs also include the production of our publications - Oryx, FFI magazine and our quarterly newsletter - and the maintenance of this website, which are all vital for reporting back on our achievements and highlighting threats to the planet to our supporters, members and other interested parties.

Through partnership and grants we help smaller conservation and community groups in the developing world grow and develop their own strengths to carry out conservation for themselves.

What we don’t do

We do not believe that it is necessary to establish FFI offices around the globe nor to build up a costly bureaucracy. We don’t duplicate work if someone else is doing it well already. We don’t see ourselves in competition with other conservation organisations; we are all part of the same cause – that of saving our precious natural world.
