Support to Garamba National Park

Garamba National Park in northeast DRC is a World Heritage Site and is home to the Congolese giraffe and the African elephant. It is thought to have been the last refuge of the northern white rhinoceros, which is now considered extinct in the wild. FFI is working with government institutions, local communities and conservation organisations to address the threats to the park and its species, with particular efforts to protect the northern white rhino through radiotracking and an intensive protection zone. The project is also carrying out community awareness and conservation initiatives to garner local support for the park’s conservation.
