Our programme in these mountain forests, located at the eastern-most end of the Himalayas, focuses on protecting the western black crested gibbon, the endangered cyprus tree Taiwania, and their habitats. We help local communities to improve their livelihoods through community-based approaches to protected area development and management and through alternative livelihood interventions such as fodder trials and community nurseries, while involving and training community members to manage the forests into the future.
