The National

Following on from a Myspace blog that THE NATIONAL posted last week (June 25th) teasing that they would be back to visit - "Australia & New Zealand friends, we don't have any news for you just yet, but don't worry, we'll announce tours in your lovely countries very soon." - Australian website Tone Deaf is reporting that The National have apparently revealed in an interview that they will be "in Australia and New Zealand in January".

Except for some gaps - a few days at the end of August and beginning of September, three and a half weeks from mid-October to mid-November - The National have a fully booked touring schedule until the 1st of December where they wind up their European tour playing a second night at London's Brixton Academy. In light of such a touring schedule, (potential) January dates seem more realistic than anything this side of 2009. The band's got to have Christmas holidays, right?!

Tone Deaf do not list a source or link for the cited interview and have posted it as an update in a page entitled "Big Day Out 2011 Line Up Starts Leaking". Curious and curiouser... Tone Deaf also report that HOT HOT HEAT have leaked that they will be playing Big Day Out 2011 - if this comes true, I will give free hugs to everyone at BDO next year. PROMISE.

While we all wait for more news to drip in, watch The National performing their singles 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' and 'Anyone's Ghost' from their latest album 'High Violet' on Later With Jools Holland below...
