MEG & DIA are now unsigned... but new songs are on the way! PDF Print E-mail

Meg & Dia

Although MEG & DIA were dropped from their record label Warner Bros. earlier this year, that hasn't spelled out the end of their band. All five members - sisters Meg and Dia Frampton, drummer Nicholas Price, bassist Jonathan Snyder, and lead guitarist Carlo Gimenez - recorded new songs recently, in a cabin in the middle of the woods in Oregon.

Dia has said on Myspace that: "We recorded at a cabin in Tillamook, Oregon in the middle of the woods. We paid for it ourselves through our savings and did everything ourselves this time. We hired a young friend, our age, to help co-produce and engineer, and set up the studio in the tiny cabin. (Poor Nick had to sleep on an air mattress on the floor by Jonathan and Carlo). There was no room in the living room and there were chords and wires everywhere. We all huddled around the drums and amps every night to watch the NBA play offs. (The TV was set on an amp as well).

Evan Taubenfeld

Avril Lavigne devotees will already be familiar with EVAN TAUBENFELD as her long-time lead guitarist and best friend. Although Taubenfeld left Avril's band in September of 2004 to focus on his own music, he was a key member of her sk8er boi brat-pack, and musical director back in her heyday from 2001.

Taubenfeld released his debut album 'Welcome To The Blacklist Club' in May of this year. Of the album, he has said that: "For the first time in my career, I'm not hiding behind anyone else, whether it be as a guitarist or drummer in someone else's band, or being the writer and producer. I've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for this for so long. I'm like that kid on the basketball team who is pretty good but rides the bench the entire season for three years until finally, the coach is like, 'You're in. Don't screw this up.' So Welcome to the Blacklist Club is about me from the first bar to the final note. It's Chapter One of the story of my life."

Tom Felton

These are the facts: TOM FELTON - best known as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films - has signed to record label Six String Productions, and an album is on the way. The label has confirmed on their Twitter profile that: "Tom Felton has signed and the album is very much on its way."

According to The Sun, Felton has said that: "I'm a keen musician. Me and my mates have a great time jamming and recording stuff. We have a great band behind us and have turned my nursery-rhyme songs into quite credible pieces of music. But you definitely won't see me on the broomstick with a guitar."

Felton has already posted videos of him performing original songs on YouTube under the alias of FELTBEATS, as well as having already released nine songs - 'Time Well Spent', 'Time Isn't Healing', 'One of These Days', 'Under Stars', 'Right Place, Right Time', 'In My Arms', 'All I Need', 'I'll Be There', and 'Silhouettes In Sunsets' - to iTunes, plus an EP entitled 'In Good Hands' is available on iTunes and Amazon's website. The six-track EP features the songs: 'If You Could Be Anywhere', 'We Belong', 'When Angels Come', 'Convinced', 'Father of Mine', and 'If Thats Alright With You'.

Watch Tom Felton performing 'If You Could Be Anywhere', a medley of 'Time Well Spent', 'Time Isn't Healing', and 'Silhouettes In Sunsets' below...

R.I.P. ENVY ON THE COAST... PDF Print E-mail

Envy On The Coast

The world lost a good band recently. Great band, even. Only months after releasing ‘Low Country’, ENVY ON THE COAST announced formally yesterday that as a band they were cutting their losses and calling it quits. In an open letter to fans, vocalist Ryan Hunter stated that late last week Sal Bossio (guitar, vocals, keys) and Jeremy Verlardi (bass) expressed their decision to leave the band, citing that they were no longer happy and therefore no longer wanted to be part of Envy On The Coast.

Hunter goes on to state that Envy on the Coast was formed on the personal and musical relationships of the original members and therefore remaining members Hunter and Brian Byrne would move forward together to start something new, rather than search for replacements. It’s an admirable and understandably tough decision I’m sure... and while many (including myself) will be sad to see the death of the band, personally I’m happy to have the memories of Envy On The Coast as it was initially intended, as opposed to a version made up of newcomers.

So R.I.P. Envy On The Coast. May the future be bright, in whatever way, shape or form it may take - and here’s hoping we haven’t seen the last of each of the talented members in the music world. Now excuse me as I simultaneously celebrate and mourn the band that was, by watching the video from my favourite song ‘Sugar Skulls’ off their debut album ‘Lucy Gray’...

Welcome back: PLAIN WHITE T'S. PDF Print E-mail

Plain White T's

The PLAIN WHITE T'S have always been sentimental, but now they're just plain soppy. 'Rhythm Of Love' is the first single from the band's forthcoming album 'The Wonders Of The Younger' and plays back like a Hallmark greeting card commercial.

Where 'Hey There Delilah' - before it was murdered by re-relases - was endearing and heartfelt, lead guitarist Tim Lopez now takes charge of vocals duty (with frontman Tom Higgenson on harmonies) and reels line after line of endless cheese on 'Rhythm Of Love' - e.g. "We may only have tonight / But till the morning sun you're mine all mine / Play the music low and sway to the rhythm of love."

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Higgenson said that: “The name of the album is ‘The Wonders of the Younger. We were in Vegas last year around Valentine’s Day and saw the Cirque du Soleil show ‘O.’ The show had clowns, pirates and a bunch of crazy stuff and I walked out thinking ‘I’ve got a great idea for our next album.’ From that point on, my mind went wild.”
