Manipal University, earlier known as Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), started the B.Sc. Nursing course in Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) in 1990 at Manipal, Karnataka. Considering the increasing demand of graduate nurses in India, Manipal University started educational opportunities in Bangalore. Bangalore was chosen keeping in view the excellent connectivity of the city by road, rail and air with surrounding states of India.

Subsequently, MCON Bangalore was inaugurated on 13th December, 2007 by Dr. Ramananda S. Shetty, Director of Medical Education, Govt. of Karnataka. Manipal College of Nursing; a constituent institution of Manipal University is situated at 363, Halagevaderahalli, 3.5 km interior to Rajarajeshwari Nagar, a pollution free area of the city in a pleasant environment. The college is recognised by Indian Nursing Council (INC No:-18-617/2002-INC) and Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC NO: HFW: 16: MPS: 2007).
