1. General approach and framework: The general aim of the training activities of the Pestalozzi Programme is to train education professionals to become multipliers for Council of Europe standards and values in education. The work is based on three main pillars Content : standards and principles as well as project results of the Council of Europe Methodology : learner-centred, peer-training, collaborative work on issues of common concerns to find fit solutions for diverse contexts Four-fold concept of competences development : developing sensitivity and awareness, knowledge and understanding, individual practice, societal practice

The next 2010 EUROCLIO General Assembly will be held on Friday 26 March 2010 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
We are delighted to see that many Associations have sent delegates to the 2010 EUROCLIO Annual Conference in the Netherlands and we expect that many of them are interested in participating in this General Assembly, in order to access the work of 2009 and discuss the planning for 2010. We will very much welcome their contributions.
However we noticed that some of the Full Member Associations have not paid the EUROCLIO Subscription fee for 2009. In the Statutes of EUROCLIO it is stipulated that Full Member Associations are only allowed to vote, if they have paid their subscription for the previous year (1/1/2009-31/12/2010). Please make sure that your delegates can vote and check if you have paid the fee already.
It is still possible for delegates to pay in cash the subscription fees to Maria Kazamiaki during the Conference Registration.

On 4 November 2009 in Charlemagne building of the European Commission in Brussels, EUROCLIO, the European Association of History Educators will receive the runner-up prize for Organised Civil Society 2009 from the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Joke van der Leeuw-Roord, Executive-Director of EUROCLIO will accept the prize from the EESC President Mario Sepi. “The award is a just recognition of the continued efforts of EUROCLIO and its international network to promote European democratic values and European citizenship through history teaching," stated Joke van der Leeuw-Roord. The award comes only weeks after a EUROCLIO project team was awarded the Anna Lindh Foundation runner-up prize for Intercultural Dialogue and in the same year Executive-Director of EUROCLIO won the Royal Dutch Orde van Oranje-Nassau for her national and international commitment to History education.
