Salvatore Ferragamo

NEW YORK, June 24, 2010
By Nicole Phelps
Resort is Massimiliano Giornetti's second women's collection for Salvatore Ferragamo. It's still early days, but it's safe to say that the label is in turnaround. The designer's formula: to return the brand to its classy, elegant roots, while nodding ever so slightly in the direction of current trends. "My inspiration was drawn from the modern Ferragamo woman on holiday, a seventies vibe mixed with the luxury expected of a jet-setter," Giornetti told us. That means he showed plenty of breezy, island-ready dresses (the best in a navy, white, and tangerine stripe), along with crisp sailor pants and layerable knits. But there was just as much that will play in the city come summertime—see the simple, streamlined black suit or his one-shoulder black column gown. It wasn't a surprise to hear that the public relations and celebrity services departments have never been busier.
