Fox News Anchor Shepard Smith Is A Fan Of Ole Miss’ New Mascot (Video)
by Glenn Davis | 6:16 pm, October 15th, 2010
Yesterday we wrote on the selection of Ole Miss’ new mascot, Rebel Black Bear. While it was a disappointment to have it officially confirmed, once and for all, that there would be no Admiral Ackbar on the Ole Miss sidelines, the Black Bear was probably the best realistic choice out of the three left.
But while we viewed it as a solid, if unspectacular, choice given the circumstances, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith, a huge Rebels fan, seemed to have plenty of enthusiasm for the choice on his program last night.
Smith issued a “Bear Alert” (not an uncommon thing for him), but said this one was “the best Bear Alert ever,” and reported on the voting process that led to a new mascot for his beloved alma mater. Then, he showed footage of that video where a tranquilized bear bounces off a trampoline.
And we’ve got to give Shep credit for his positivity:
“The Vols have that dog, the Crimson Tide have that elephant, now the Rebels have a bear. Love it. Stop your whining. It’s for the kids, it’s not for you, and it’s a BEAR. And it’s cool.”
Emphasis his. Who can resist that kind of passion? Not you, once you watch the video below.
