TUAW TV Live: TUAW and TMO tag team

It's time for TUAW TV Live, so grab some popcorn and a beverage, sign into the chat room, and get ready for some fun.

Today my special guest is John Martellaro from The Mac Observer. As I mentioned earlier today, John is the Senior Editor at TMO and has been around the Apple universe for many years. He's one of the many Mac bloggers who call the Denver area home, so we meet up on occasion in the real world to talk computers and other topics.

How do you join on the fun? From your Mac or PC, just go to the next page by clicking the read more link at the bottom of this post, and you'll find a livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to join in on the fun by asking questions or making comments.

If you're driving somewhere and would like to watch TUAW TV Live while you're stuck in traffic, please don't -- keep your eyes on the road! However, if someone else is doing the driving, you can watch the show on your iPhone by downloading the free Ustream Viewing Application.

iPad users haven't been forgotten, either, as you can tune in to TUAW TV Live on your iPad! That link will send you to a non-Flash page, although you won't have access to our chat tool. And one final note -- if the show has started and you're seeing a previously recorded show instead of the livestream, you can always pop on over to ustream.tv/tuaw to join the show in progress.

Today on TUAW TV Live: The Mac Observer's John Martellaro

Would you believe it's Wednesday already?

Today at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT), I'll have a special guest on TUAW TV Live. John Martellaro is the Senior Editor at The Mac Observer, and his background in the world of Apple includes a stint at the company as a Senior Marketing Manager for science and technology, a Federal Account executive, and High Performance Computing Manager. He writes the weekly "Particle Debris" feature at TMO, which is always full of insights into Apple in particular and consumer electronics in general.

We have a lot to talk about on the show today, including Apple's first foray above $300 on Wall Street, if the debut of Windows Phone 7 means anything to the company, what the Apple TV means to the long-term success of Apple, and more.

Join us this afternoon for live video and chat. We'll get started just before 5 PM EDT here at TUAW.com. If you miss the show, be sure to check it out in our video archives at http://ustream.tv/tuaw.

TUAW TV Live: A focus on the new Apple TV

It's been out for a week, probed like a hillbilly picked up by aliens, and talked about on every Apple blog. What is it? The new Apple TV, of course.

Today's TUAW TV Live is going to focus on the newest member of the Apple family, with video highlights of the device in action. You'll be able to see how the Lowtide user interface works, view the Apple remote apps for iPhone and iPad, and see how the device settings can be configured.

Once I'm done with the video tour, you're free to ask questions, speculate on the future of the Apple TV platform, and otherwise contribute to the chat.

TUAW TV Live this afternoon at 5 PM EDT: The Apple TV episode

When last week's episode of TUAW TV Live was being streamed, my Apple TV had just been delivered and I hadn't been able to do more than shoot a quick unboxing video. After a week, I've had an opportunity to put the new Apple TV through its paces and find what I like and dislike about the new unit.

This afternoon, join me for a special Apple TV edition of TUAW TV Live. I'll show you the device, how it connects to the world, and give you a detailed tour of the Lowtide user interface. I'll also demonstrate the use of Apple's free Remote app in controlling the Apple TV, and then we'll open the chat room to discussion of the device.

It all starts at 5 PM EDT today here at TUAW. Show up a few minutes early either here at TUAW.com, or visit the Ustream link below to watch -- either way, you'll be treated to a live video stream and a chat tool. If you can't make it to the live show, all of the TUAW TV Live episodes are archived on our Ustream page so you can view them at your leisure.

TUAW TV Live: The Steve and Sam show

As mentioned earlier today, my guest for today's episode of TUAW TV Live is Sam Levin, the brains and voice behind AppMinute.com and the AppMinute podcast (iTunes link). I always enjoy having guests on the show, and today's episode ought to be a lot of fun for viewers as well. We tried to do this show last week, but due to technical issues with our streaming provider, we were unable to.

To join in from your Mac or PC, just go to the next page by clicking the read more link at the bottom of this post, and you'll find a livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to join in on the fun by asking questions or making comments.

TUAW TV Live: Your Wednesday tropical vacation

TUAWloha, everybody! It's time to put on your Hawaiian shirts, grab a Mai Tai or three, and join me for another hour of live mayhem at the mercy of my technological devices. Yes, it's time for TUAW TV Live.

As I noted in the promo post earlier today, we've got a lot of ground to cover. I'll talk about (and demonstrate) the pitfalls that one can run into when doing a livestream show like this, do a couple of giveaways with a fun Apple trivia game, demo some good (and some not-so-good) iPhone and iPad apps, show how to easily create iBooks, and more.

To join in from your Mac or PC, just go to the next page by clicking the link at the bottom of this post, and you'll find a livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to join in on the fun by asking questions or making comments.

Coming up at 5 PM EDT: TUAW TV Live

It's hard to believe, but TUAW TV Live has been appearing on your screens just about every Wednesday for 10 months now. I want to thank all of you who have joined in every week for an hour of discovery and discussion; you've made it a pleasure to produce the show.

This week, I'll be talking about a variety of topics: what would be good to see in iWork and iLife updates, iPad and iPhone apps (both good and bad), more iPad and iPhone cases, a demo of how to quickly make an e-book that will work in iBooks, and additional topics as well. And we'll even have some fun giveaways on today's show.

To watch and participate in today's show, just come back to TUAW at about 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT), and I'll have full instructions on how to view the livestream and use the chat.

TUAW TV Live: An Apple TV in pieces and a machine that goes Ping

The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things. Of Apple TVs and iOS 4.1, of new iPods and Pings. On today's TUAW TV Live the discussion is sure to wander all over the metaphorical map. As promised earlier, I will have my old Apple TV torn apart and will point out some interesting design flaws that demonstrate why the darned things ran so hot.

We have lots of other cool stuff to talk about, and I'm seriously hoping that iOS 4.1 drops before the show so I can give you a hands-on demo of some of the new features. To join in from your Mac or PC, just go to the next page by clicking the link at the bottom of this post, and you'll find a livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to join in on the fun by asking questions or making comments.

TUAW TV Live mystery episode today at 5 PM EDT

Mystery episode, you say? What could that mean?

Usually it means that your host can't think of much to talk about, but today I'll probably have iOS 4.1 feature discussion and demos, an original Apple TV tear-apart (literally), and that's just the beginning. I'm thinking a few app demos might be in order as well, provided that the super-secret spy cam decides to cooperate. I'll also be showing off some iPhone 4 products from Exogear, including their new Exolife rechargeable battery case.

My weekly hour-long video livestream starts, as usual, at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT) right here at TUAW.com. Drop by a few minutes before the show begins to get yourself acquainted with the livestream and chat tools (if you're not a regular viewer), or to start chatting with the others about whatever topic comes to mind. It's fun, it's fast, and it's live -- see you at 5 PM.

As usual, you can join in on the discussion -- we'd love to see how you feel about the new product lineup for fall.

TUAW TV Live: Another all-Mac episode today at 5 PM EDT

Although it is overshadowed by the younger, touch-based members of the Apple family, the Mac is seeing a resurgence in popularity. Perhaps driven by the 'halo effect' around the success of the iPod, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, more and more individuals, schools, and businesses are buying Macs.

Today on TUAW TV Live, your humble host presents another all-Mac episode. Inspired by the Mac makeovers from last weekend, we'll talk about upgrades, backups, repurposing or selling old Macs, and also feature demos of some new Mac software. As always, you're welcome to ask questions during the show via live chat.

To watch or participate in today's show, visit TUAW later today (just before 5 PM EDT/2 PM PDT) and we'll have full instructions on how to join in.

Welcome back for another hour of TUAW TV Live, our weekly live show where you can join in on the fun.

Today, of course, the show is going to be twice the fun when Tim Robertson of OWC Radio and MyMac.com joins host Steve Sande for a lively discussion of the Apple world. Whether we're talking about the new iPad ad, upgrading old Mac hardware, the iPhone 4, favorites from the App Store, or if we're following up on something you said in the chat, it's going to be a raucous discussion. And of course, since Tim's on the show, we'll be sure to do a quick round of "This or That" before we're done.

TUAW TV Live this afternoon -- The Steve and Tim tag team show

Long-time viewers of TUAW TV Live will remember that we had OWC Radio and MyMac.com Podcast host Tim Robertson on the show a while back, and it was a blast. That's Tim in the photo at right, doing his best to imitate a fish out of water. Tim and I tend to riff off of each other pretty well, so it was a fun and fast hour of TUAW TV Live.

Well, we were talking (which we both love to do) a few weeks ago, and I decided that it's time to liven things up with another dose of Tim. He'll be joining me this afternoon for another hour of fun talk about Macs, iPads, iPhones, and just about anything else that comes out of Cupertino with an Apple logo on it.

The action and general silliness will begin at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT) today, here at TUAW.com. Just drop by at about the time the show is scheduled to start, and we'll have full instructions on how to watch the show and join in on the live chat.

TUAW TV Live: The photography episode

Are you addicted to taking photos with your iPhone? Do you find that the "best camera is the one that's with you?" Have you purchased more than just a couple photography apps from the App Store?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you've come to the right place. On today's TUAW TV Live, host Steve Sande will be discussing iPhone photography and videography techniques, demonstrating a dozen or more apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac that can be used to "sweeten" your photography, and talking about the best ways of sharing those frozen moments with others.

To join in from your Mac or PC, just go to the next page by clicking the link at the bottom of this post, and you'll find a live stream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to join in on the fun by asking questions or making comments.
