The Queue: Alexander Q. Ziebart, I owe you

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

What, he gets to use my full name but I can't use his? Thanks for covering for me yesterday, Alex. Red-eye flights suck.

Raful asked:

I don't know if this have been answered before, but will the honor and justice points that we get at level 80 be reset when we're at 85?

They won't reset, though the cap of 4,000 may be lifted when Cataclysm launches, since that's only like ... an item and a half, with badge gear prices at 85 in mind.

The Queue: Michael Sacco Jr., you owe me

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

As I write this, it's 3:15 a.m. here in Wisconsin. About 30 minutes ago, I was comfortably in bed, drifting off to sleep. Then I heard a familiar sound coming from my iPhone -- someone was sending me instant messages over AIM! You see, I keep AIM logged in on my phone just in case the staff needs me in a hurry, especially on weekends. So I rolled over and groped blindly for my phone. What happened? Did WoW Insider burn down while I wasn't looking? Did we get news of another domain change? Did someone put a hilarious .GIF in our virtual war room?

It was Michael Sacco. "Hey Alex, can you write The Queue for me tomorrow?"

"I'm in bed, Mike. I am literally in bed. Right now. Sleeping."

"Yeah. OK. Can you write it?"

So here I am. Writing The Queue. Because that's what friends do.

The Queue: Hotlanta

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Honestly, I have no idea if it's hot or not. I'm writing this Queue from the Atlanta airport at 6:30 in the morning after a red-eye from California, and I still have another flight to go.

Pancakes asked:

What's to become of draenei paladin chargers (or at least, what happened on beta)? I know we're getting elekks when 4.0.3 rolls around, but do we get to keep our horsies?
No, your horses turn into elekks. If you're concerned, don't be -- the Great Exarch's Elekk looks really cool.

The Queue: You lied to me, Alex

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney will be your host today.

No, not Alex Ziebart, I'm talking about the other Alex -- Afrasiabi, lead world designer for World of Warcraft. During the Quests and Lore panel at BlizzCon 2010, Alex said, "If you see Deathwing, he will kill you." Well, I saw Deathwing, Alex. I saw him with my own two fel-riddled eyes. I saw him torch half the zone. I said, "Oh goodness, this is it -- I'm going to die!" and when it didn't occur, I leapt from my mount and merrily scampered and pranced about in the flames he left behind (nice job on those flame effects, incidentally), and I did not die. I did not even singe. I remained as perfect and whole as I was prior to his appearance. And I was looking at him really hard, too.

You owe me, Alex. You owe me.

Since I'm alive, I may as well answer a few questions.

Mark asked:

Is the collector's edition a real product? Cataclysm is less than four weeks from live and I can't even preorder it yet anywhere. Is the plan to make us buy the regular edition so we can play and then also a collector's edition sometime later?

So the game that's going to provide my fix from now until Dec. 7 has been released, and I'm really looking forward to doing some dedicated server action with it. No more of that peer-to-peer junk that destroyed MW2 for me. Check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops review over at Joystiq, and then realize that you need to go drop $60 on it today.

Bam. Headshot.

CrossEyed asked:

What does it hurt a subtlety rogue when questing if he's using a sword in main hand?

The Queue: Theme song

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley will be your host today.

Hello, WoW Insider community. I'm sure you've heard of me -- I'm Mathew, one of the co-hosts of the WoW Insider Show, probably the best WoW podcast ever*. Our show is pretty great! However, we are desperately lacking one very crucial component: a theme song. We need a theme song.

So, community, I beg and beseech you, help us come up with a theme song for our awesome podcast. Suggest something, record something, give us ideas, anything. We want to hear your input! I have personally added my selection to the top of The Queue, as I believe punk/heavy metal versions of Ke$ha songs will more than likely bring us the listenership we deserve.

* Source: My mother.

Everyone on the planet asked:

How can we contribute ideas for the WoW Insider Show theme song?

Great question, everyone. Here are the ways to help us out:

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the
World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Ayasumonk provided today's header image, a reflection on the cruelty of Russian circuses. Not really.

A_V asked:

Are the guild-earned new heirlooms in Cata going to be the only accessible heirlooms available to level from 80 to 85? Because my partner and I have a private guild on one server for the two of us that consists of just our few 80s and little alts. If the heirlooms are deep into the guild levels, will we still be able to access them with just the two of us running around?
Yes, only the helm and cape heirlooms are currently known to work past level 80, and it might take a bit of time for a two-person guild to unlock them. Bear in mind that you'll likely also have guild perks to boost your experience gain at that point.

Rainyia sent us this picture on Twitter. "It's what I imagine worgen riding mounts to look like," she says. I suppose she's not far off, though admittedly this worgen looks a little, uh, young.

jq71586 asked:

Do the immediate goblin and worgen starter zones have mailboxes? Or to retrieve heirlooms, for example, is it still needed to run toward a larger nearby city to access a mailbox?

New goblins and worgen do indeed have mailboxes available right away. You'll be able to get your heirlooms and proceed to outlevel the starting zone right away, even though you can't leave until you complete it anyway.

Surfboards? Passé. The latest extreme sport is surfing on alien ungulates.

Grovin asked:

Not being in the beta, I was wondering what the current status is on the storage space issues related to tabards, backpacks and banks (as brought up here)?

Right now there's no new news relating to inventory space. Blizzard has said that it's exploring options for tabard storage, but we haven't heard anything else since.

The Queue: I'll never catch this dark herring

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley will be your host today.

Day 223. It's getting colder in the Fjord as winter slowly sets in. I should be home, my wife and children awaiting my glorious return. Arthas has finally fallen, my world has gone back to safety and security. Even though Azeroth is safe, I still toil on this one last task ... one last catch ...

The elusive dark herring still fights my capture. Sure, the sea turtle sort of makes up for it, but I want to get the hell out of this horrible land. When is my time? When will the great Neptulon, lord of all seas, grant me my final wish ... my final solace ... my dark herring ...

No, seriously, I hate the dark herring.

The Queue: Explanations

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

In Monday's edition of The Queue (titled Veronica Day), most people had no idea what I was talking about in the intro. I was talking about Felicia Day's character in Fallout: New Vegas. She voices Veronica Santangelo, one of the companion NPCs. For those of you completely unfamiliar with New Vegas, just watch the video embedded linked above. It will explain everything you need to know about the game. Or ... it will explain nothing at all. Watch it anyway. Be warned: It contains some animated gore.

Eyhk asked:

Why were chests removed? Just because those dirty rogues were solo-farming them? Kinda seems harsh to remove a once integral part of dungeon running, getting that chest loot.

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Fallout: New Vegas has been my poison of choice for the last few days (in between playing World of Warcraft, obviously). Do you know how weird it is to be running around a post-apocalyptic wasteland for hours with an NPC voiced by someone you've met in person? I'll give you a hint: It's really weird.

dawnseven asked:

Now that we're practically on the eve of release, have there been any real changes to fishing in the Cataclysm beta? At last year's BlizzCon, Blizzard said it wanted to make it more interesting. Is there anything new besides new fish and new dailies? Is it still the same ol' boring thing?

The Queue: I had an NPC before it was cool

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
Yes, yes, it's great that Red Shirt Guy got his own NPC, but what's better than hanging out next to a classic, beloved lore figure? That's right. Being barefoot in the kitchen, performing some unknown action with a haunch of meat. Top that, Red Shirt Guy.

Lochlorien asked:

Since patch.4.0.1 was released and druids lost their tree forms, being a 30-second buff now, how do you explain Applebough? He's always in tree form sitting in Dalaran selling fruit. Shouldn't his tree form have the same cooldowns and duration as the rest of us?

Treants existed before Tree of Life form did. I would imagine that Applebough, with a name like Applebough, is an actual tree, instead of a dude what turns into one.
