Wade Phillips was informed by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Monday that he has been fired as the team's head coach, sources told FanHouse.Those same sources said that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will be promoted to interim head coach and finish the season in the position. The Cowboys intend to conduct a full-blown search for a new coach after the season, and Garrett will be a candidate, as undoubtedly will some big-name former NFL coaches, such as Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden.
However, the news of the day is that Phillips is out following a 45-7 Sunday night loss in Green Bay that dropped the Cowboys' record to 1-7 for the season.
The Cowboys entered the season as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl (which will be held this year in their home stadium in Arlington, Texas), but through the first half of the season only the Buffalo Bills have a worse record among NFL teams at 0-8.
Jones said after last Sunday's loss to Jacksonville that he opposed the idea of making in-season coaching changes (and this would be the first time he's done it since buying the team), and said flatly last week that Phillips would finish the season as the Cowboys' coach. But after Sunday night's loss in Green Bay, Jones spoke more strongly about people needing to face consequences for the team's disappointing season.
"There are a lot of people here who are certainly going to suffer and suffer consequences," Jones said after the Cowboys' Sunday night loss. "This is certainly a setback. I think unquestionably that our expectations were thinking we're something we were not, possibly looking at what might be relative to a Super Bowl."

I have a vision of Marty Schottenheimer coming out of retirement this winter. Even though he never offically retired anyway. He'll get the Cowboys to the playoffs every year, but lose in the first round. He will fill that place and give the entire area the need to talk Super Bowl.

Garrett is auditioning for his next job, whether as a head coach or offensive coordinator for another team, college or pro. With or without a CBA in place, he will be leaving.

Garrett ran the offense look at what they done i believe he wanted phillips to fail so he will be the main coach .fired all the coaches and fire jones
