A season filled with of twists, turns and shocking eliminations ended predictably, with actress Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough landing in first place. Grey topped the leaderboard for seven of the competition's 10 weeks.
Actor Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer finished second.
"I didn't think I was going to compete tonight, and I'm really glad I did," said a tearful Grey, who battled back problems all season. A ruptured disc nearly prevented her from performing in the finale.
And after generating so much controversy -- causing one enraged viewer to shoot his television, possibly being the target of white (talcum) powder and eliciting hundreds of vitriolic comments on our own site-- teen activist Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas took third place.
"This has been such a life-changing experience and I had the time of my life," Palin said.

The finalists performed twice more during the finale episode to add to their scores from Monday night's performances. Each celeb reprised a dance from earlier in the season: Palin picked her well-received tango, Massey chose his "rock week" tango, while Grey went with her week 1 homage to 'Dirty Dancing.' The judges placed them in that order, from third to first.
The three couples also did an "instant cha cha," with Grey and Hough again coming out on top. The final scoreboard read: Grey with 118, Massey with 110 and Palin with 104.
Which means that despite all those voting conspiracy theories, the end result mirrored the scores given out by Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

As for how she felt when her named was called? "I think I was a little blank," Grey laughed. "I felt a shot of elation."

I wish there was some sensitivity to the West Coast. The suspense was ruined.

I wondered about that, so I did not send the results to my friend in CA.

Amen! It's ALWAYS ruined for us. Why can't they wait to post the results online.

You shouldn't have peeked then.

why do they keep giving the award to professional dancers like Grey, pussycat doll and spice girl? What's the point...they might as well just give it to the professional from the git go and stop wasting everyone' time! The only reason why I watched the last few minutes tonight was to confirm if my prediction would be right. Guess what? It was!

BRANDI SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE TOP THREE, SHE WAS ROBBED.

Theres a typo in this article. It was not grey and BLALLAS that came on top it was Grey and HOUGH. Congrats Jen and Derek!! They deserved it! They gave me the TIME OF MY LIFE watching them. And this is a tribute to Patrick Swayze. RIP

DWTS played the viewers. I will never watch this show again.

@paula : She isn't a professional dancer. She's a professional actor who happened to be in a film about dancing. I was on television when I was a child, 20 years ago. Do you think I remember what I said? Do you consider me a professional news correspondent because I answered a simple question and got on television when I was five or so?

MOVE to the east coast then! Everyone knows nothing interesting ever happens on the west coast... except wildfires, mudslides and earthquakes.

Bristol is not a shy girl. The real Bristol said, " If I win it will be a middle finger to the people who hate my Mom and hate me." theres good sportsmanship! And Sara, if you want to run for president, ask your daughter not to say "sucks" on camera constantly.

vicki and karen's obvious hate of the palins only justifies those who despise the obamas. simply put: you two gals are haters.

I personally did not think the article would have ran for those on the west coast. The thought crossed my mind, but assumed that the site writing the article knew what they were doing. Guess I was wrong.

Solution: Don't look at the results. hahaha
I think that the main page of the article did a good job of not showing who won until you clicked on the article.

@Kyra: Her father was a professional dancer (Cabaret), so you're telling me that she was never subjected to any training throughout her life? C'mon. Nothing against Jennifer, but it was a competition with a lot of unfair advantages, as paula pointed out. She had professional training for her role in "Dirty Dancing" as well. For this to be a fair and unbiased competition, none of the participants should have one iota of professional training whatsoever - everyone needs to go into it completely "green". Jennifer should not have won.

paula you took the words right out of my mouth!

@Unfair Advantages (and others): so based on your comment, since my father is a pastor, I should have had training on ministering to people? And because my mother is a piano player, I have been trained to be a professional musician? I don't think so. Jennifer was obviously the best. She is over 50 and moved extremely well. She was in A movie about dancing for which she learned a routine, she did not learn HOW to dance. For anyone who has ever danced, they know the difference. You can learn routines for years and never learn how to actually dance. It's like school - you can learn to pass a test without ever actually learning anything. She did not have an unfair advantage, she was just better. I am glad she won as she was a great dancer and actually fulfilled the rules of the show - Dancing with the STARS.

Why don't you all just watch the show?
by Marilyn DeBrase, posted Nov 24th 2010
I'm confused -- doesn't the west coast get the same show we do on the east coast -- so what are all these people moaning about? If they watched the show, then they would know who won and/or lost.
