Here’s a rather dramatic, somewhat gothic alternative to the old martini.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • 1 black olive, for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Place a cocktail glass in the freezer to chill.
  2. Place the rum and vermouth in a cocktail shaker and fill it halfway with ice. Stir vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosted. Strain into the chilled glass and garnish with the olive.
