Behind the scenes
Yesterday I posted the second of 4 video clips in the Swagger 360 / Ralph Lauren Fragrance - The Big Pony Collection.
Here are a few of the behind the scenes photos from the video shoot.
.
Nothing beats having a product in hand and creative freedom. Stay tuned for Fragrance 3 and 4 in the coming weeks.
Why do I keep the blog fresh and constantly look to push the envelop on Street Style..... (click here).... because inspiration is a beautiful thing (Taken from a fellow writer's site who re-posted the video clip).

Swagger 360 / Ralph Lauren Fragrances Collaboration.
So, this is part 2 of a 4 part collaboration.
Video 2 'The Seduction Fragrance'
When asked how musk and dark chocolate notes fit the philosophy for Big Pony Red #2, Perfumer Antoine Lie from Givaudan responded that musk and dark chocolate are sexy notes; I used this accord to bring out a smooth, alluring element to the fragrance. Musk and chocolate are reportedly known aphrodisiacs.
The perfumer was also asked how he felt Big Pony Red #2 was representative of Ralph Lauren. His response -
I think that Big Pony #2 represents a new, modern expression of Ralph Lauren always with a nod to a classic style that he is known for. Red #2 has a timeless masculine structure with modern facets that make the scent relevant for today, something that is not trendy but a well made part of your wardrobe. Just like the Ralph Lauren brand.
My take - chocolate and musk in a fragrance, makes for something smooth without being overbearing.
For a chance to win a free bottle of The Seduction Fragrance, re-post the video, and let me know where you posted it (you'll find the embedded code via the youtube link/logo).

The Details
Military inspired.
Something about perfect fit and cut, always does it. This chap had the whole mitilitary look going on without looking like he was trying. Because of him I decided to feature some of the women details also inspired by military looks.

Commentaries and Notes
So, Vogue Paris recently did a feature on 7 blogs to follow...
For those who read french...... C'est ici.
Also this week there was a mention in The New York Times.com,Style section by one of (if not) the most respected, and recognized Street Style photographers Bill Cunningham. (Thanks to those who e-mailed me the link). Swagger 360 in The New York Times. On the Street / Style Wars
To have my work recognized by Vogue Paris, and The New York Times simply confirms to me that style is recognized just as much as fashion. Live with Swagger.

Commentaries and Notes
Today's post is about This is about getting the most for your hard earned dollar.
1. Invest in the book 'Dressing The Man' by Allan Flusser.
This book walks you through everything from folding a pocket square, tying a bow tie, to learning about different fabrics, and the perfect fit. I firmly believe that any chap serious about dressing should own this book. If you're a lady looking for the perfect gift, this will go further than a beautiful shirt or tie, this book is if not the style man's bible, it's one of chapters. You'll hear about this again in my upcoming post on perfect Christmas gifts for that gentleman with swagger (you can thank Ruthie for the list, she e-mailed me asking for it).
2. Esquire comes out with "The Black Book" (which is actually an annual issue). This is a shorter version of Dressing the Man. Past issues have featured things such as how to correctly iron your shirt, how to pack your suitcase, how to remove stains, etc. GQ just came out with it's version.
Both are strong, both give you the insight and pointers on fashion and style.
3. Sample Sales.
Why pay full price if you can get it for less. Many designers have sample sales (usually once or twice a year) and many have outlet stores throughout the United States. While sample sales tend to bring the biggest savings, you may be limited
in terms of what you find. Just know that there will be plenty of jockeying for position, no room for hesitation, and you best grab it quick.
Outlet Stores offer great deals on items that are no longer on the retail store shelves, but still worth having in your closet at 25 to 60% off the retail price. Also look up on the web and you'll find additional sales and discount at the outlet stores.
4. Thrift Shops
Yes, I said thrift. There you'll find some great items that you wont find anywhere else. Quality pieces have an extended life. Now while many people shy away from thrift stores (the idea of wearing something that someone else had isn't the most popular), you'll often find one of a kind items that you wont find anywhere else. The key is finding items that work well with pieces you already own.
5. Ebay
The fantastic world of ebay can be addictive so beware, but it can also be oh so fun. The great thing about ebay is that you will find just about anything and everything that you're looking for. All you need to know are the key words and you'll be amazed as to what the search will list. If you're looking for an item in particular, hold out until you find it. Although you may log on one day and not find it, the next day it may be listed. Shopping ebay is about patience and persistence.

Commentaries and Notes
I remember being in Paris when I was first invited to visit the New York showroom where the Stetson master brand lives. I have to admit that when I thought of the brand name Stetson, the first thing that came to mind was classic American cowboy hats. I'd like to think that I have an open mind when it comes to fashion and style, so I accepted the invitation not really knowing what to expect. I quickly learned that the area that maintained the most growth over the past few years for them has been and remains their dress hat collection, which accounts for over 50% of global sales.
Now showrooms are nothing new to me, and at this point, I am not easily impressed, however the experience at Stetson was golden. There I learned of their history dating back to 1865, this is a company rich in tradition, proud of it's product, and ever expanding in terms of ventures and collaborations (currently they have collaborations with Albertus Swanepoel, and Billy Reid). Stetson not only makes hats, but also functional clothing ranging from jeans to t-shirts, to button up shirts, to boots. Their Stetson Original has been among the top 20 men fragrances for the past 20 years (a feat that few fragrances can lay claim to), and their corrective eye wear launched in the 1980's is one of the best selling collections of men's frames.
One of the things that particularly stands out about Stetson is their commitment to quality, something that is evident in the master craftsmanship of the products that bear the brand name.
While speaking to Pamela Fields, the company's Chief Executive Officer, I was invited to take a look at the company's lending library, which not only was a testament to the years of work, but also an excellent source of hat history in general (the library is open to the general public upon request). It was Pamela that also explained to me that every item had a story, and while fashion was important, at Stetson " we put great value on being authentic and true to our heritage. Products have to function first, be fashionable later."
I left the showroom wanting to share my experience with others. For those who look for a connection between themselves and the product they wear, I can say that Stetson embodies a functional product that has that little extra detail for those who demand both quality, and great style.
Stetson dress hats can be found at Barney's, Brooks Bros, Saks, Bloomingdale's. Western hats at Shepler's, Boot Barn, Cavender's
