First there was leopard, then python, and now palomino? "We had to throw in a little animal print because it's so in-demand," said Tracy Reese of her pre-fall collection. So in addition to showing a bankable, long leopard slip, the designer is trying out the pony pattern on several jersey pieces in search of the next smash hit. Reese is business-savvy above all, and while she dabbled in a few new styles, pre-fall was mostly a remix of her seventies-inspired Spring collection (which, she added, is "semi-sold-out"). Boho, macramé-trim dresses with floor-grazing hemlines popped up again, but they were a bit tougher here, topped with long, leather safari vests. Reese is at her best when she keeps it simple. A clean shift cut from stretchy techno fabric with leather paneling down the front stood apart as more current than the rest. And a black and cream party frock with sheer sleeves and a low back is just the kind of piece to keep sales figures rolling.
